Chris Sutton takes his chance………. 21:15 - Jan 26 with 7554 views | BlueNomad | to run us down on BBC: Ipswich had had a big win over Morecambe in midweek and have only lost once at home in League One all season. Burnley are on a different level at the moment, though. They are five points clear at the top of the Championship after winning eight league games in a row. They dismantled Premier League side Bournemouth in the last round, and I have a feeling they will do the same to Ipswich too. Sutton's prediction: 0-4
Chris Sutton takes his chance………. on 10:48 - Jan 27 with 1292 views | ElephantintheRoom | Sounds a fair assessment. Town will probably play a scratch side that has never played together before. Mind you Burnley will probably do the same. But as they’ve already won the division they might actually be trying in this one be - whilst Town will be back to treating the cup with utter contempt because ‘the league is more important’. Even though it isn’t.

Chris Sutton takes his chance………. on 12:46 - Jan 27 with 1181 views | Facefacts | Can't stand Sutton. We can't have one of those starts where it takes us 20 mins to work out what system the other team is playing, instead we will have to be 'on it' from the start. Playing fast tempo not slow. One thing that will impact an FA Cup match where the teams are from different divisions is what level the referee is from - This referee Tom Nield is from League One. This is always a factor. It's about familiarity, knowing what challenges he will let go, etc, what playacting he will 'buy'. This should help us. Also he won't be complacent, as he was part of the 'team' that sent off the wrong Bolton player in his last game. But....Our management team should have watched back the Portsmouth pizza game to remind whether he is one of those refs who 'wants to make a name for himself', and how to 'play' him. If he is on the rise in the profession, we have to be careful. I think Burnley will still be too good for us, but, you never know.. Btw, the EADT article on this game is lazy, West Brom's goal against Burnley was clearly a push on the defender, but, as I mentioned complacency, the ref was somehow 15 yards away and couldn't have seen it, yet the EADT say Burnley are possibly vulnerable to set pieces as a result of that one goal. Not great.
Chris Sutton takes his chance………. on 13:10 - Jan 27 with 1159 views | Asa | I have no issue with ex-Norwich players winding up Town fans or ex-Town players winding up Norwich fans. But Sutton is being paid to be a pundit and that's probably where any reasonable person should draw the line at allowing petty club rivalries to alter their genuine opinion. Could we lose 4-0? Absolutely. Burnley are great side. So Sutton may well be right. But can anyone genuinely believe that he sees Sheffield United, the closest thing to Burnley only drawing away at a similarly high-flying side from three divisions below them? He's saying Premier League Leeds will only win by half Burnley's margin when they go to Accrington, well below us. He's saying Premier League Leicester will only win by a goal at League Two Walsall. Yet a high flying League One side in Town, that rarely loses, are going to get absolutely annihilated he's decided. Fair enough if he genuinely sees the game going that way tomorrow and calls all the other games correctly. However, alongside all the other predictions of much closer games with sides far more mismatched than us and Burnley, it just comes across as really quite sad for a middle aged man paid to give his professional opinion to give what is basically the closest thing he can give to a comedy scoreline without it looking petty. What's also amusing is the only other absolute thrashing he's decided will be Blackpool at a pretty poor Southampton side. That one struck me as really weird. Until it clicked that it is the Blackpool that absolutely destroyed the Forest team he supports in the last round! [Post edited 27 Jan 2023 13:25]

Chris Sutton takes his chance………. on 21:24 - Jan 26 by Swansea_Blue | A fair assessment. Burnley are cruising the Championship and are a very solid unit. We’re very much the underdogs. |
You say thaty but then Leeds 0-2 vs Accrington, Stevenage draw with Stoke, Derby to beat West ham, Grimsby to only lose 2-0 at Luton. Based on those, I would say a 2 goal difference is a "fair assessment". 4 is just being silly. Hope he's not right! haha

Chris Sutton takes his chance………. on 08:18 - Jan 27 by Swailsey | I’ve said it before and will say it again..and will get pelters. I really like Chris Sutton, I think he’s incredibly sharp and dry. I like his sense of humour. Sorry! |
My Dads cousin is a big Celtic fan (although was on the board of Albion Rovers at one point) - Pat does a big of charity work as well as his day job and Comedian, always has good things to say about Sutton who would happily help out Pat with Charity events and "An Audience with..." type stuff. Mind you , Pat also knew Diego Maradona so that might say something!!!
