I don't think anyone is questioning her right to sue, but unfortunately many ordinary people aren't bankrolled to be able to take legal action on many fronts these days, not least because of cuts to legal aid.

If the letter from the school genuinely did 'invite' people to the event, they surely can't object if people say no. If attendance is compulsory, it's an instruction, not an invitation.
