Another corrupt MP - this one jailed. 15:45 - Feb 9 with 734 viewsBloomBlue

OK not an MP now but he was when he committed the crime.
It appears that when he was an independent MP he did nothing in terms of MP work ie no constituency surgeries, not responding to any requests, all while taking his salary.
I know MPs have a code of conduct, you would assume it would include reqular evidence/proof of a mini level of constituency work and if no, they can remove the individual from being an MP.

Bet he wishes he was a Tory MP now. They'd have probably given him a cabinet post.

Jokes aside, a particularly nasty individual by all accounts. Glad to see he's inside.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

Yep, shocking how you can effectively lose the whip for something like this and just give up and continue to take the money

It seems a funny system where if you are a senior minister your constituency doesn't have a local MP effectively as well, but obviously not as notable as this tw@t who seems a nasty piece of work as well

One of the reasons why I believe we desperately need proportional representation, with multi-member seats. Especially in the areas of Northern Ireland which have elected Sinn Fein MPs, which means that those who want Westminster representation don't get it (67.6% of the electorate, in the case of South Down).

Similarly, at present, if you live in a seat with a Tory MP, good luck in getting any sort of response or action in respect of anything that doesn't align with Government policy.

Corrupt, no

useless, incompetentdrug based fruad

I think yu are on a sticky wicket when talking about work, attendance - both Johnson and Farage would be proud to have achieved this blokes level of commitment (almost nil).

Drugs, see - https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2022/apr/02/tories-suspend-david-warburton-

However questions need to be asked about how he was selected in the first place, but to imagine that this case some how balances up the numerous cases of corruption for financial gain from Tory MPs is absurd

And yes a prison sentence is justified, and a requirement to repay any money fraudulently claimed should be mandatory - shame the same rigour is not applied right across the board

Trying to steal £52k from tax payers is of course corruption.

Whilst Boris Johnson may not do a lot as a constituency MP, to suggest he hasn't done work or attendance of his job when he was the PM is just nonsense

Isn't this the one who had a rather public breakdown at one point? If he had a massive drug problem, that might explain now why he fell to bits.

Amazing he could get so far really - as you and others have said, you'd think there'd be a few more checks and balances for disciplinary breaches other than falling back solely on the law or their constituents forcing a byelection.
