Nicola is resigning on 11:11 - Feb 15 by Darth_Koont | Indeed. And constantly under attack from the mainstream parties, media and social media fanboys that have made the UK a measurably worse place to live, work, grow up and grow old in. Good luck to her – and I hope her replacement keeps up the good fight. |
Whilst not exactly squeaky clean herself and happy to play dirty politics when needed, she's absolutely streets ahead of any of the PMs from Westminster for some time. Arnold Moorhen and you quite right there. The last 'grown up' we had as PM was Brown. Maybe these Scottish politicians are a bit underrated! Just for clarity I'm not blanket defending her; I don't know enough of the ins and outs of Scottish politics and it seems the usual smear and counter smear tactics are going on that I'm not up to speed with.

He looks like my grandad (bar the hair and beard) which is true because he wore a kilt all the time I knew him, even though living in the Isle of Wight. He also played the pipes but was forced by his family to play them out in the countryside.

Nicola is resigning on 11:06 - Feb 15 by DJR | My understanding is that JK Rowling is no supporter of Scottish independence. |
Having looked it up, it appears that I have got that one wrong. I had misinterpreted a comment re funding and Sturgeon's wish for a General Election being a de facto Referendum, and how it wasn’t bright to make an enemy of Rowling over the trans issue because of implications for funding, to be that the SNP would lose Rowling's support, rather than that she would be further motivated to donate to those opposed to Independence. So kind of a similar net end result, in a roundabout way.

Perhaps if she'd been a little less abrasive, the politics around her would have been less brutal. Being married to the SNP's Chief Executive Officer didn't help her in certain situations. I'm not sure what, in actual fact, she has achieved?

I'm not convinced she was abrasive as opposed to being a strong woman fighting a cause which about half the population in Scotland don't support. The abrasion, it seems to me, came from the Scottish and English press, all of which (apart from the National) don't support independence.
