Burns 13:36 - Feb 22 with 4223 views | tractorboy1978 | This season so far - 7 goals, 8 assists Last season - 13 goals, 6 assists He's probably going to end the season with similar or more goal/assist contributions, yet feels like he hasn't been the same player this season. You can see why he's a first name on the team sheet though, even at less than full capacity he's still our 3rd most effective player in an attacking sense.

Burns on 19:07 - Feb 23 by Swansea_Blue | He’s got more assists than that - 6 to 9 depending which source you look at. He’s joint third top goal scorer and second for assists. So whilst not threatening the whole league table, he’s still chipping in and contributing more than most for us. |
Harness? Says 2 on whoscored and 3 on transfermarkt (who credit him with a deflected cross to TJJ in the home game against Cambridge).

Which source are you using? BBC says Harness has 2 assists. Assists aren't really his thing, he doesn't lay on many chances, he's more likely to take the shot and thus more likely to have stats skewed towards goals than assists. SB

Whats interesting about the BBC stats is that on the 'top assists' for League one. Davis is 2nd on chances created per game with only Barry Bannan ahead of him on 3.04. But the only other Town player in the top 24 is Burns. Given the number of goals we've scored, I'm surprised at that. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/league-one/top-scorers/assists [Post edited 24 Feb 2023 9:01]

You mean "chances created per game" not "assists" I assume? That is surprising but I think that can be explained, Davis has put a lot of chances on a plate for players who have missed them (Celina had a similar thing last season) which makes his assists lowered than they should be in reality. An example is the Hirst chance from the last match where it was easier to score than miss - realistically Davis should have had two assists in that match at least. Conversely it could be that chances from others are being converted more often, this could be player related, maybe a lot of chances Davis creates don't fall to Chaplin who is our most clinical finisher. So surprising as you say but not impossible. SB

And don't forget set pieces - Davis now takes everything so that bumps it up a lot - I imagine the top 15 are set piece takers

Indeed. Although it would be interesting if they actually defined what the metric "chance created" actually meant. SB

Yep, or split it between open play and set pieces

I know with "key passes" it's just that the next player to touch it had a shot.
