So he is saying that the touch from Clarke has gone out of the pitch before he is fouled.

But if the keeper isn't diving in like that at some speed then he never makes such a heavy touch and goes onto have a goalscoring opportunity.

Where the ball goes is slightly irrelevant in that context.

Sending off aside, I can see why he sounded fed-up. They’re punching above their weight and have clearly reached their ceiling now there are ever more big clubs in L1. What chance do they have if even getting close to the playoffs? Football without hope must be pretty soul destroying

I thought the sending off was a bit harsh, tbf...Not a definite scoring chance for me.. 90th minute, game was already over. Ref could have probably shown some common sense, awarded a free kick and dished a yellow for the foul.. I'm not a fan of Coleman, or Accy in general. But can see why hes frustrated with that one
Especially, given their current squad depletion and being in the thick of a relegation scrap...

In real time I thought it was a straight red, the keeper had taken a risk a few times earlier in the game and got away with it, finally his luck ran out

Agreed, I don't think a single person in that ground would've had any complaints if the ref just showed a yellow and got on with it. Red did feel OTT, he seemed in such a rush to pull it out of his pocket.

It was Clarke who was hacked down btw, not Jacko.

The way I read it... Coleman is unhappy with his goalkeeper, but doesn't want to publicly have a go. So he blames someone else in a way that the player himself will know he's unhappy with him.

A goalkeeper doesn't do what he did unless he believes that none of the defenders will get there or the ball will not go out of play.

Looked a straight red to me. I don’t buy the heavy touch excuse. You could more correctly argue that the onrushing keeper denied Clarke the opportunity to get the ball under control. It was out of control / excessive force.

If you freeze the replay just before contact, the ball is right at Clarke's feet. Even a few frames later, as he's beginning to fall, it's not beyond reach at full pace.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

I like how he moans the referee was hurrying them up on throw ins, they started taking their time 5 minutes in

I think the iFollow crew had said the ball spent 37 minutes in play between Burton and Accrington in recent weeks, that's going to play a part in that too

You make your own luck!

I find it a bit weird that people call for consistency in refereeing, then for leniency because of who it is, what the score is, impact on squad etc which is anything but consistent.

Looked straight red to me, WTF was the keeper thinking at 2-0 down in 90th minute?

I think it was a straight red. It was ‘one of those’ where the keeper just got it all wrong - bit like Pope for Newcastle the other week when he wound up hand balling it.

Coleman should be saving his annoyance for the keeper, not the ref. The game was over. What was the goalie doing??

Imagine being a Morecombe, Burton or Oxford fan and seeing Accy able to field their 1st choice keeper for the next 3 games because they got a sympathy vote.

Shows how refs are in a no-win situation. I take your point that the game was done & maybe he could have just shown a yellow, but if so, others, such as Accringron's relegation rivals, could criticise him for not applying the laws properly.

I felt it was not a red because their defender number 50 was along side HC and running quicker, and would have been able to perhaps block any shot, one of those that sometimes you get red carded and sometimes a yellow really.
