When teams play the low block it squeezes the space that the number 10s (and we play two) can operate in. On those occasions other players can often have better games.
Chaplin first half struggled to find the gaps but that opened up loads of opportunity for the wing backs and allowed both centre mids to play high. We pretty much swamped Shrewsbury first half. As McKenna said the dilemma then is how to create any real open chances. I think people have to understand what affect the low block has on the number 10 role. |  |

We drove to the game rather than catch the train and some Shrewsbury fans were parked beside us. Chatted to them, even went to the same pub as us, lovely people, in chatting to them they said the noise coming out of the club leading up to the game was Town's danger players were Broadhead and Chaplin.
Yes Chaplin's passing / touch was a little off in that first half but he and Broadhead always had 2 players on them as soon as they got the ball.
It was as if Shrewsbury had watched a few games recently and decided let Town give the ball to Burns he will only waste it. What you need in that situation is a midfielder or CH to try and run/dribble with the ball through the middle to bring one of those 2 marking players out. In fairness to the OP, I think it's a bit much to say he had a hand in the first goal. He's passed a ball 7 yards in a straight line to an unmarked player.
Chaplin had a much better 2nd half, alot quicker with the ball, and the ball seemed to stick better than it did in the first half, so what ever changes or talks KM had with him certainly helped. TB may have gone a bit far with taking chappers off at HT, I didn't think he was that bad, but he and Broadhead certainly didn't have the best of halves and needed to and did have better 2nd halves. |

You may not have noticed (which is extraordinary if you're trying to give some kind of analysis, cos even I can see it) that the way teams mark and defend against us means that certain players don't excel on certain days whilst others suddenly have oodles of space. I agree. And that's why I said yesterday in my own post that HT the only chat I could see KM needing to have was to Chaplin and broadhead to enable them to have an enjoyable 2nd half period.

We were. Unfortunately I don't think the third division can be considered a 'top' league.

Well yes. TB watches I follow so similar to me he wouldn't see what runs Chaplin made off the ball. So yes his point on Chaplins first half would have been about what he did with the ball no?

I don't know TB's viewing arrangements, or didn't until now, and couldn't be expected to.
And it's not the "with the ball" bit I'm complaining about. It's the whole OP.
