Reading through this latest news item it does seem like we are talking about relatively small amounts and, maybe, some blurred lines around how money was used to repay a loan Murrell made from his own funds. Have you seen any suggestions otherwise ?

And here was me thinking she stepped down because she missed out on seeing her nieces grow up, rather than her husband having his hands in the cookie jar*.
Full of sh*t until the end.
*allegedly
"Former SNP chief executive Peter Murrell has been released without charge by the police, pending further investigation into party finances."
Care to retract your slur,
and maybe tell us whether you think one of your lot has his snout in the trough - Tory MP, Scott Bent one

Yiounleft out “pending further investigation”.
That’s pretty standard procedure.Arrest the suspect and get him out of the house. Spend all day gathering potential evidence. Send him back home and spend the next x weeks combing through evidence collected.
Everyone is innocent until found guilty And whilst others on this thread may have speculated over whether he is guilty or innocent of any charge, I didn’t. That doesn’t take way from the op that this is the real reason Sturgeon stepped down. She knew this was coming and that would have made her position untenable. Imagine the scenes we’ve seen in the news today at her home if she was still FM.
I see the Kate Forbes camp are demanding to know if this action was put off until after the election. Their view is that his would have hurt the “continuity candidate” and eventual winner.

As Labour leader Anas Sawar sums it up very well.

The 'pending further investigation' is pretty obvious though, isn't it ? And Sturgeon was in the house all day so I doubt the police were able to go about their business without her eye on things (they may even have needed her assistance to ope locked drawers...)
Interesting that you have unearthed that quote from my MSP, Kate Forbes. As much as I shouldn't be dealing in speculation in the way you have concerning the reason for Nicola's resignation I am wondering if the hand of the Church of Scotland can be seen in this - getting our taxpayer's money used for something that would more properly be the subject of an internal SNP enquiry.

Utter nonsense
Firstly it is not speculation, it is an accusation "her husband having his hands in the cookie jar"
Secondly if "She knew this was coming" why would the police expect to find any incriminating evidence ?
Thirdly, you have no evidence either that Sturgeon "She knew this was coming "
However perhaps you might like to comment on why one of yours Scott 'Bent one' MP has been caught, on camera. offering to break Parliamentary rules to line his pockets. Where might he have learnt what could be done, from other Try MPs ?
Any other job and such a serious breach of the rules would have the person suspended. Where all that happens is the Tory Party disowns him, as they seem to do on a regular basis. Even trying to excuse him, as with former Tory MP Owen Paterson.
He should resign his seat and stand for re-election. Let the voters of Blackpool South decide if he is fit to represent them.

With the introduction of an RV, can we call this episode “Brechin Bad”?
And I'll drive up the west coast Through villages and towns I'll be on my holidays They'll be doing their rounds They'll ask me how I got her I'll say, "I [redacted] " They'll say, "Isn't she pretty? That camper van called Dignity"

The POTUS has Airforce One, the SNP have RV One...which, considering how unpopular motorhomes are in the Highlands and Islands, seems a bit of a vote loser.
At least Peter Murrell has not grabbed his loan back because his mum demanded he buy her a motorhome, at 92 I think she is maybe too old to go gallivanting around the 500, and also to complain when sonny boy says he is going to park up a company vehicle on her driveway 'just for the weekend, it will be gone by Monday...'

Ah, that puts a whole different slant on the DM version. If it was purchased as a campaigning vehicle and never used, then as long as it's all accounted for in the accounts I don't see the problem. I suspect it's a damn site cheaper than buying a coach and hotel rooms. And yes, it's unlikely to have been a perk for 92 year old Mrs Murrell to use for weekend raves in the Highlands! Although you never know. I've heard Buckfast Tonic can do incredible things to the body.

If it was purchased as a campaigning vehicle and never used, then why has it sat on the driveway of Peter Murrell's 92 year old mother's home for the past 2 years?
"as long as it's all accounted for in the accounts I don't see the problem"
Well the auditors resigned 6 months ago and it doesn't look like we will seeing SNP accounts any time soon.

I would be more concerned if there was another few grand for garaging to be honest...unless that invoice is yet to be issued by Mrs. Murrell Snr.

If Peter Murrell bought the RV for campaigning reasons then auditors would have identified it as an asset in the 2021 Balance Sheet. It would also be "garaged" on SNP property.
If it does show up on the 2021 balance sheet as a SNP asset, then why have police removed and impounded it? I don't believe they have removed or impounded any other SNP owned vehicles or property.
The police do not confiscate vehicles unless there is a good reason.

Maybe they plan to use it? It could well be a bullsh*t theory, I’ve no skin in their game at all and it’s for them to explain and convince the authorities it’s legit. If they can’t hopefully they’ll get their comeuppance.

It is looking possible that the Scottish National Party will have auditors imposed upon it as they can find no firm willing to take on the job:
I had not realised that Sturgeon resigned a few days after Johnson Carmichael said they would no longer act. In another development their head of media says he had been misled by his own colleagues over membership numbers. How quickly fortunes change, for a long while it looked like Nicola had the cushiest number in politics and now it looks like Humza Yousaf has the toughest.
