My favourite line in that piece is ...'There was Tim Sherwood who had his own way,...'

That's the best McKenna could offer having called out positive attributes for every other manager during his time. Suggest he didn't rate him much either.

What I took from that interview was that we better go up this year or we might be losing this guy.

I imagine Prem clubs are already sniffing around.

That was exactly my thoughts.

McKenna will be seeing Carrick at 'Boro and know in himself he's as good/better than him and should be at that level too.

Although we really don't know what the potential upside of this club is do we?

Some had doubts when we fell behind in the title race. I never did. Even if we don't achieve promotion this season ( which I believe we will) we can look back at great gains in every aspect of a club I have followed since the late 1950's. One that has unfortunately seen more downs than up's for around 20 seasons now. Nobody can argue that McKenna has been a breath of fresh air to ITFC. He will I suspect eventually manage a bigger club than Town. But he is a young man who respects the fact that he needs to walk before he can run and any ideas he has of moving on are well to the back of his mind. I believe he will stay with Town for some years to come and hopefully as with Gamechanger be with us in the Premier League with crowds of 35-40,000. But as McKenna would say " One game at a time"

One of those strange things about English, that it has come to mean exactly the same as "Nobody can argue that McKenna has NOT been a breath of fresh air to ITFC".

The article is building McKenna up but which Prem clubs would be looking to appoint a manager who didn't get Ipswich promoted when we have been financially backed as we are? I think it most likely McKenna stays whether we go up or not. If he starts next season very well, a club at the level above where we are may well look at him. Would he move or see this as a longer term project? I suspect the latter. I can see him being with us for several years. Either succeeding and ending up going to Man Utd or similar or getting sacked when it doesn't work out. I see the former as far more likely than the latter.
