I never thought that day at Wembley could be topped... 11:48 - Apr 25 with 1562 viewswkj

But if we beat Barnsley tonight, It may well just happen!

On a similar note, to date the playoff semi final home tie vs Bolton is the most exciting footie game I have ever been to and I think I will go to the grave with out that night ever being topped.

Saturday would surely be better than tonight. The party to end all parties. The end of the Banter Era. The start of the Glory Era.

Yes, agree with all of that. For the Wembley game I never at any stage doubted that we would win.

For the most part I didn't either, but in the first half my nails took a bit of a beating

Nope. That was the culmination of building a good side for several years finally getting the promotion they deserved. This is still in rectifying gross negligence territory.

It’ll still be bloody good though, just not that good.

Indeed, Saturday is potentially the day. If we clinch promotion, it will be the first time we have won anything at Portman Road since 1962, won't it? It would surely unleash the biggest celebration in Town for more than 60 years.

The only other rival to it that I can think of is the Bolton PO semi final in 2000, but that was a midweek game and would have concluded after 10pm, not long before the pubs shut and midweek.

Nope, this is L1 promotion (hopefully), which has come about due to years and years or decline and decimation by a thousand cuts.

Whilst it would be great - it is not even close to Wembley and promotion to the Prem.

But given the two decades of having nothing to celebrate, this MUST be properly celebrated. I used to be of the opinion that a League 1 promotion celebration was tinpot, but given how hard we've had to work for it this season it should be celebrated to the max.

It all helps to foster that winning mentality and atmosphere for next season too.

"IF" we clinch promotion on Saturday.... "IF"....

it will be carnage in Town on Saturday night.

I have already warned my more sensible half that I may not make it home until the morning...:-/

At the play-off final I sat in front of a couple of real moaners, who got worse when Barnsley scored first. When we equalized I turned round and said “Perhaps you will shut the f-ck up now” They were fine for the rest of them match.

bah humbug :) I was at Wembley, will be at Oakwell tonight and I'm actually more excited today. Wembley I was more relaxed as we'd beaten them twice in the season and knocked on the door for so many years. Tonight there is still a lot of uncertainty, as we have risen so far, so fast - and momentum going into this game is with both teams. Will be an amazing game, cant wait

That team had reached the stage where we knew if the other team scored 1, we would score 2. Hence, it was never in doubt we would win that game.

The possibility of winning something at home would elevate the stakes a lot. It would be a massive catharsis just to celebrate into the early hours right out of Portman Road.

The difference with tonight is that I'm almost as nervous about Bristol Rovers doing the business as I am us. I'd get a half and half bobble hat if I could lol

If Plymouth fail to win I would feel a LOT more comfortable. Winning the league would be nice, but to me it would be more sweeter than to finish Second, I just hope we're not the only ones looking over our shoulders come Saturday.

The post-match would make it for me. Living in London, post match after Wembley was a bit of an anti-climax.

Promotion on Saturday, in Ipswich, back to the Greyhound for the evening etc, would be fantastic.

You are right. By the time we got out of the ground it had gone 11 and back then all the pubs had shut. So there was no real celebration party.

Nope sorry. Was at Wembley as a teenager mind. This is no where near that. Was also at bolton play off semi final. That was the most nail biting game of football I have ever watched. Sooo good. This feels very different. It's league 1 for a start. This feels like we are going back to where we belong. Wembley felt like we were reaching beyond.
