Is it arrogance to think that we could ride the wave of momentum and challenge for promotion next season?
Some bookies think we are in with a shout. Are they arrogant Ipswich fans?

We have huge momentum, a Championship ready back bone to our squad. Potential to add to, and improve the squad further. An amazing manager, coaching staff and set up. And an outstanding fan base, that will be a loud and proud 12th man.
Isn't it just logical, to think we could challenge for top 6, in a division littered with stagnating clubs
I don't see it as arrogance. Far from it. Some wishful thinking, perhaps. But certainly within the realms of possibility..
It amazes me, when a supporter thinks that their club could do well. They get labelled with arrogance..
If I'm asked whether we could finish top 6 next season. My answer is a big fat yes..
I may be wrong. But certainly not arrogant, in my answer. ...Just a believer...

We are not going to get 100 points and 100 goals in our first season back in the Championship.
The 3rd team to go up from the Championship is not confirmed and neither are the 3 teams to drop down from the Premiership.
So predicting next season is just ridiculous.
Based on the information so far my best guess is we win by 10 points over our nearest rival at 99 points and 99 goals. |  |

No. Arrogance has nothing to do with it, but no doubt other clubs’ supporters will paint it that way. Who cares what they think. Not me for one.
Last 14 games: 42 goals for 2 (two) against? Four good teams away from home trampled all over - 10 goals for, 0 (nil) against.
Momentum, a unified squad and football club, good performances against two Championship teams, a better finish than Sunderland last season. The way we play, the squad depth.

It’s not arrogant to point to riding momentum. However it is a bit premature to be making real hard predictions given the season isn’t over and there is a window of ins and outs to come not to mention preseason which can throw out unwelcome injuries etc.
Keeping powder dry. Quietly confident.

I worry that I’ve forgotten what a championship footballer looks like.
But then vs the overall winners of said league we put up two great fights.
My guess now, top 6 finish next season. (Providing we hold on to our key men - players and management) |
Well, just think how shocked we all were with the standard of L1 football when we were relegated. Now reverse that for an indication of how much tougher next season will be.
We've got a very solid platform to build on and are better equipped than we were last time we were in the Championship, so there's room for optimism. Hell of a lot of work to do before we're in a position to challenge though - and that includes all the uncertainty around new signings paying off. Playoffs would be a great result. |  |

I guess the flip side to that is it was one of the weakest L1s ever and we had to throw 4million at the squad in January to get out of it.
But, momentum and team spirit and savvy owners - not to mention one of the best young managers in Europe - seems there’s no reason why top 10 championship should not be achievable. |

Of course not. Momentum and team spirit are massive.
We have to be careful not to get carried away though. A season finishing 12th while we build on last season and add pieces to the jigsaw would be a decent season if we're all thinking sensibly. I'm sure we will have a good season but targets should not be set too high by fans. |
The team should of course set targets high but we fans should keep expectations realistic.
Anyway, consecutive promotions from third to top tier is undoubtedly Nodge's greatest achievement, and I think Southampton and perhaps Palace and ManCity have also done it.

Im hoping that KM sticks to the, one game at a time,thing. That mindset worked really well for us, as we chipped away at our very difficult run in..
The squad/staff feels "together".. There's a lot to be said for togetherness, brotherhood and trust in each other..
When we went up to the Prem' in 2000, we weren't a team of superstars in Prem terms..But we were a bloody good "team" and surprised a lot of experts, by finishing 5th that year.. So why can't we do it again, eh? | | | |
