We all know Leif got the most assists - 14 from 43 games played.
But who got the best ratio of assists to games?
Well Jevani Brown just edged it, with 9 assists from 27 games (0.333).
2nd is Leif with 14 from 43 games played (0.326)
3rd ??????
Step forward Nathan Broadhead - 6 assists from 19 games (0.316)

Also worth looking at the chances created rather than just those taken. For this metric, Davis (2.74 per 90) blows Brown (1.48) out of the water.

No data for Broadhead on there unfortunately.

I imagine the open play stats are different in that regard - set piece takers really distort these stats

Open play assists per 90 is this:
1 - Callum Wright - Plymouth
2 - Morgan Whittaker - Plymouth
3 - Finn Azaz - Plymouth
....
5 - Joe Pigott - Pompey
....
8. Wes Burns - Ipswich
...
10 - Nathan Broadhead - Ipswich
...
13 - Jevani Brown - Exeter
...
24 - Barry Bannan - SW
...
40 - Leif Davis - Ipswich

Open play chances created per 90
1 - Tyler Goodrham - Oxford
2 - Finn Azaz - Plymouth
3 - Callum Wright - Plymouth
4 - Leif Davis - Ipswich
...
7 - Conor Chaplin - Ipswich
...
11 - Barry Bannan - SW
...
13 - Joe Pigott - Pompey
14 - Wes Burns - Ipswich
...
21 - Ladapo
22 - Broadhead
23 - Hirst
...
26 - Jevani Brown - Exeter
...
29 - Harness
...
34 - Morsy

Does that matter though?

Set pieces are a very specific and sought after skill so why would one want to separate them out?

The goals that result in the quality delivery and the assist are just as important.

They are, but if a player is given 10 opportunities under no pressure to put a ball into a goalscoring position per game then (like Davis and Bannan) they will always outscore every one in that metric

It does matter and is quite important really.

One of your previous counters to my views that davis could have done better at times with his crossing was that he was high up on the assists etc.

No disrespect to Davis, who has had a remarkable season, but I have wondered why Broadhead's not been getting similar plaudits. He's been a joy to watch and is one of the best with the ball in a tight corner that I've ever seen.

I think it tells us that we have A LOT of chances from open play that we don't take.

That could be because teams play low block and pack out the penalty area against us, though, not just because we miss them.

Or it could be that we are a little bit profligate.

We had the best conversion rate in the league so while we could have scored more we weren't profligate in comparison to the rest:

Disingenuous once again and I've getting rather bored of it now.

In that "debate" many posters including myself also highlighted that he was in the top percentiles for many metrics around crossing including crossing accuracy as well as assists. The argument was then made that perhaps it wasn't his fault that his clearly very good crosses weren't being converted. Assists was a minor part of the argument being put to you.

It was all nonsense, much like most of your posting around that time.

Aaron Collins stats also good, probably even better given he also scored a few goals. Wonder if he'll get a move to a championship side this season.

Depends if that accuracy figure includes set pieces doesn't it , Hence my point on this thread alone.

The arguments by you was that I couldn't have such an opinion on Davis open play crossing, based on what was seen ( My opinion was he could have done better on occasions) your counter to that was solely based around stat figures.

So yes open play stats and set piece stats are quite different and quite important.

If and this is a big If the set piece stats were included.. and you removed them. If he then had a 20% accuracy rate over the season. Would you then suddenly agree that he could have done better in open play...

If however Davis in open play was still way up there in the % without set pieces then yes I'm blind.
