Yeah you would defo never see anybody on here grabbing every available economic indicator to back up their political stance. That's never going to happen.

German Govt spending dropped 5pc in the quarter - it’s almost like there’s a correlation.

Plus the UK added 600k+ consumers last year to keep our one dimensional economy afloat.

Clearly absolute bobbins logic. Brexit is going to prove very damaging to the UK in the short, medium and long term, it's almost unquantifiable damage and will be via thousands of papercuts, not least the sentiment of our European neighbours towards trading with the UK as well as the practical barriers now.

What is true though is that it's not reasonable to point at every hardship we face and shout 'Brexit'. The global economic outlook is gloomy thanks to a whole host of reasons, Brexit is one of them. Had we not left the EU and all other things were still true the world would still be going to sh1t.

There's no credible argument that it's helped anything or anyone though. Sooner the UK rejoins and puts this expensive mess behind us the better.

You'd be on stronger ground if you were using an economic indicator that actually relates to the UK, which is what most folk do when looking at the economic impact of Brexit on the UK.

The wider point being that Brexit has been and will continue to be hugely damaging to the UK. I know you don't want to let go of your pipe dream but reality is staring you in the face and it does not approve of your stance.

What pipe dream would that be?

"The one small bit of hope that I cling on to is that more and more people seem to be waking up to the idea that government's and most of the media serve the interests of big business and the wealthy, and that those interests are antithetical to the best interests of the planet and most of the people who inhabit it."

We differ in that I think we need global cooperation to bring about any meaningful change, whereas you still cling to a 19th century version of anarchosyndicalism whereby twenty mill workers can kickstart societal change by taking control of their mill from the owner.

OK so government works in the interests of business and elites as you stated earlier except for really big governments which are an embodiment of the Internationale.
I'll stick with my pipe dream thanks.

His is the old Tokyoite line about being in the vanguard of disputes as those struggles will usually fail, so will lead the workers to realise that only through having an educated and organised political class can revolution be brought about - no prizes for guessing who that elite cadre are...SWP, WRP, RCP, bankster (our very own Rick, Young Ones)

"no prizes for guessing who that elite cadre are."

That is rather ironic from some I perceive to be a Trot. Someone who does not believe the masses can reach about a certain level of understanding, and so need this elite group to lead them.

If you are talking about education, then I do not consider lying to workers that their demands can be met, in order for those demands to fail........ and so come to the conclusion that capitalism cannot be reformed and needs an educated elite to lead them to the promised land, err comrade.

I hate to think how many youngsters had been used, then disillusioned of politics after encounters with these bedsit rrrrrr revolutionairies.
