Anyone else think we may regret selling El Miz? 20:10 - Jun 2 with 15547 views | cbower | That's if we do sell him. He is still very young, is coming off a season of critical acclaim from fans, fellow players and managers and may well be someone we would look at were he not already our player. I appreciate he is currently behind Morsy, Luongo, Ball, Evans and probably also Humphreys and Camara. However, in two years time how much will Morsy and Luongo have left? Can Evans and Camara stay fit? Does Ball have enough to be first choice? Is Humphreys ready? For me, El Miz might be where Jack Taylor is now in 12-18 months. Loan him out again and reassess this time next year, we effectively have 2 years more with the 12 month option on his contract. Any thoughts?

Anyone else think we may regret selling El Miz? on 20:15 - Jun 7 by The_Flashing_Smile | Do you mean "keeping him" in your last para? Because otherwise it doesn't make sense. I've made my position very clear. We won't get a huge amount for him now, not enough to get excited about. So we put him out on loan again and see how he develops. That's it. I'm not going to give a time frame for when, or if, he'll be ready for our first team. How on earth would I know? |
It says keeping him does it not or have I had a stroke today? If we don't sell and he goes on loan even with a good season next season a player with 1 year on his contract isn't going to be commanding much more of a fee than we get now surely? But we have clubs (allegedly) keen now. A bad season on loan would leave us with fewer suitors and a player with a year on his contract. From as risk reward POV it doesn't seem worth it for what looks like would not be that much gain? Maybe he's another blinder, could happen of course it could but its big step up for him.

You must have had a stroke then, because it definitely says "not keeping him". UPDATE TO ALL THIS: So McKenna and his staff agree El Miz needs to go on loan, not be sold

Fair enough, as I said several times I have no issue with him going on loan, be helpful if he signed a new contract 1st though wouldn't it.

A bad season if it is it is what you going to get 500 grand or 100 grand very little in the grand scheme of things. But if he goes to likes of a Derby in front of expectant big crowds and rips it up it can one of two ways back at Ipswich or clubs giving us a good fee. So loan to a more tricky environment for me.

Hmm, you did seem to have a bit of an issue with him going on loan, given how desperate and convinced you were that we should sell. Re signing: Maybe that's why KMk's bigging him up so much, to help that along. Or he's bigging him up because it's just a formality that El Miz will sign.

If you look back at the posts I said quite clearly I have no issue with him going on loan, I just don't subscribe to the we must not sell him in case he buts us on the arse view. It's less the going on loan and more the over reaction to tbe possibility of selling him.

There's not been an overreaction. Most were saying it makes more sense to send him on loan rather than pick up a small-ish fee now, but that they would go with McKenna and the coaches considered view.
