And probably most already do, is that the ball provided to Marco Van Basten for that glorious volley in 88 was delivered by none other than our friend Muhran
Magnificent. If a lesser player had scored that you might assume it was a 'hit and hope' that got lucky, but Mr VB had form for spectacular goals. I recommend a YouTube search if anyone fancies seeing him in his prime, some absolute belters in there.

One of the all time great goals of the WC. I can remember it without even having to watch a video replay. I seem to remember Van Basten retired early? I think he had a bad injury?
Edit : it wasn't WC was it?! It was Euros. doh!

But for injuries he would've been up there with the greatest ever strikers. They destroyed England in the group stage, poor old Tony Adams.

Was lucky enough to watch an AC Milan game at the San Siro in 1990 when Van Basten, Gullit and Rijkaard were in the team; with Baresi and Maldini at the back too, they were absolutely unplayable.

We asked him about it on Life's a Pitch once and he joked that it was his worst ever cross!
In David Winner's book Beautiful Orange it was apparently that he had an instinctive feeling where MVB would be so didn't have to look. Perhaps, like fishing, the tale changes in the telling.
