midfield 09:06 - Jun 30 with 1831 views | troyparrotsleftear | we seem to have too many midfielders who do you think will be on their way out? Ball, Camara, El miz, Evans, Morsy, Luongo, Humpries, Taylor. There may be more? Shame as all of them seem decent players

El Miz and either Ball or Camara depending on the fitness of the latter. But I guess if he isn’t fit then we’d keep Ball anyway and not name Camara in the squad.
midfield on 11:18 - Jun 30 with 1611 views | DavoIPB | Currently have 3 that are good enough for championship. Lluongo, morsy and taylor
midfield on 11:30 - Jun 30 with 1598 views | BigCommon | There's as lot of interest in El Miz, so you'd assume he will either be sold or loaned out.. Humphreys possibly loaned out.. Ball has Championship experience and can play more than one position. So, maybe, if deemed fit enough would be a useful squad player ( 9 subs this season in Championship, don't forget) Not sure on Evans or Camara. Could see Camara going out on loan to regain some match fitness. Also have to consider if we'll tweak formation and go 3 in midfield occasionally?... Morsy and Taylor as a 2 ? Luongo, Morsy, Taylor as a 3? We might even see another MF incoming before the window closes... Midfield looks bloated on paper, but when you whittle it down to who you think is solid Championship standard and fully reliable fitness wise. Then , realistically, you can easily chop 2 or 3 out of the equation, imo
midfield on 11:33 - Jun 30 with 1585 views | the_toff | Cash in on El-Miz Loan our Humphreys to L1 Morsy, Luongo, Taylor, Ball I think are the main 4. We need 4 for 2 positions. Just leaves Camara and Evans. I think 1 will go and 1 will join those 4 above in a supporting capacity.

I'd agree with this. I think we will look to keep Camara out of the two and let Evans go.

midfield on 11:54 - Jun 30 with 1541 views | cmarkchips | I think Evans is most likely to go. Too slow in the build up and would command a fee.He also never seems to complete a season. Can't say I have been that impressed with Ball but prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt and will undoubtedly be fourth choice coming on to see out games etc and can play at the back in some circumstances. expect El Miz will go on loan to Derby and Cam on loan too. For me Taylor is the big win, with Luongo as an able deputy for 12 months until he settles in.
midfield on 11:59 - Jun 30 with 1507 views | gordon | Personally would loan out El Miz rather than sell - if he goes to a decent League One team like Derby or Charlton and has a dominant season (which he definitely could) then he'd be worth quite a lot more, or could come back to ITFC next season. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

midfield on 12:55 - Jun 30 with 1393 views | Darth_Koont | Depends. If we set up how we set up in League One with both Broadhead and Chaplin or similar as attacking midfielders/Number 10s given licence to push up to, and often beyond the lone striker then we probably have too many. That attacking approach worked because generally we could push the opposition back, lose the ball but generally mop up and start again for the whole 90 minutes. But in a more competitive, higher-quality league I expect we’ll need to fight more to earn the right to play. And we’ll be under the cosh (or at least there’s that risk) for more periods in more games. So wouldn’t surprise me if we see more central midfielders being part of the set-up, at least away from home where we’ll probably have to stifle and battle. Certainly I think we’ll want that option to pack the midfield off the bench when it was barely a concern last season given our overall dominance.

Yeah agree with this - think it's possible that away from home against better teams we might end up playing three of them, and then you'd want two centre-mids on the bench as cover, so five in the match-day squad.

When we signed Ball and then Camara last Summer I figured we might have similar planned for trickier games last season, but we don't seem to have shown much inclination to do it, even in games where we weren't so dominant. Think if we were inclined to go that way we might have seen a bit more of it when we played Top 6 teams last season.

Exactly. I forget which game it was in our run-in but one game we had Morsy and Luongo starting and no central midfielders on the bench. I doubt that would ever be the case in the Championship and, as you say, more likely we’ll see 4-5 in each match squad. That could also work well for players like Humphreys, Camara, Harness and El Miz if he sticks around as I could see them playing ahead of a couple of anchoring CMs and giving the team a different balance when needed.

Agreed. But I think once we found our mojo in League One and could dominate teams through our attacking threat then we just didn’t need that option. I can’t see a similar dominance in the Championship. Of course, it would be fantastic if we could stay so attacking and successful and I’m sure that McKenna won’t want to compromise that if he can help it. But I think we need to prepare for more of a challenge in games than last year.
