Become the first team to have a female overseeing the mens squad. Only on a caretaker level at the moment tho. Interesting!

What would TWTD's opinions be on it if she ended up getting it full time? She reads as very highly thought of in FA setups etc. Fair play to her

Sad for Hannah...at some stage the gender shake up in football will and must happen.

The immediate TWTD pressing issue, is Gav can you sort out the CSS on the site to stop posts/links overlapping the margins?

....written all over it from day one.

It's borderline exploitation really.

Pathetic really, isn't it. Feel for her, clearly used as part of a cheap marketing stunt when they had no intention of hiring her, even when she is arguably in a better position than the guy they end up appointing.

Or 'Academy manager returns to role as new head coach is appointed', as it it would be at every other club.

Every other club hasn't milked the opportunity for some positive press over the past two weeks though.

Completely agree.

Her only game was against the mighty Melksham Town - the equivalent of our Felixstowe friendly.

This is no disrespect to her, but you could put a fan in place for the first preseason friendly if you wanted to, it's hardly a pivotal step forward for women's representation in men's coaching. If anything, it's a step backwards and is shown up for the marketing ploy it was.

Indeed.

I guess we don't know what the conversations were at the time but from the press relaeas it came across, at least to me that she was going to have chance to stake a real claim for the role.

Whilst there is a lot to like about they way FGR do some things they seem quite scatter gun with their hiring process

I'm sure Mr Vince is never one to say no to some airtime but there's a pretty obvious reason why this would be of greater media interest than other such appointments.

If there's an issue here it's with 'the media' for blowing it a bit out of proportion to the extent it's made a load of people forget what the word 'interim' means.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

....pose with the team shirt and they had a full media conference as soon as she was appointed.

That never happens for an interim/caretaker manager during the closed season.

They haven't even bothered announcing that they've appointed her replacement, not even a tweet.

It was a massive publicity stunt, nothing more.

It's done nothing to promote women in football, it's all just about Vince's agenda.

Hopefully they are non league again soon.

Can't fault their maintenance department though - to replace and reinforce a glass ceiling so quickly and efficiently after smashing it is impressive.

Yeah I'm not saying they/he wasn't keen to make a thing of it initially but, imo, it's not a particularly good PR stunt if she barely got a couple of weeks and now all the reaction is negativity about the whole thing.
