Priority - tickets 12:26 - Jul 24 with 5059 viewsJamiebed

Sorry if going over old ground, but could someone quickly explain the priority system. How are some on 30+? And only through buying membership am I on 5, despite having been to 90% away games over last 20 years. Am i missing a trick? How do 25+, 20+, etc coming about?

The only problem I have is that those who bought memberships both years but really have no advantage over those who only bought in this year ... surely there should have been a 10+ window or am I missing something ?

I don't think you are.

That's the problem with this system, if people do that.

To an extent yes, but we saw plenty of people with gold cards selling theirs last year or letting others use their GC

There is clearly room for a rethink. It seems wrong that someone who purchased a Silver membership last season received priority over a season ticket holder who didn't fork out the extra for a Gold membership.

I don't see how there's room for a rethink. If you change it now, those who have bought one this year would have been missold their relative priority compared to others so I think it's a done deal now.

Basically the club has shafted some of its most loyal supporters

I went to 65% of all away games last season and have got zero points as i was not a gold card

Its a bloody p*ss take and i am surprised there have not been more people complaining

Why didn’t you pay £20 for a GC? Out of interest

In this effort to separate members further than before though, beyond the predictable couple of matches, we could (hopefully won't) see a surge in that behaviour this season. Then fans in lower priority categories or general sale would miss out much more often than they should.

I actually thought I had - it was not until late in March I realised why tickets were not appearing as available. The option to purchase one was removed, and I could see not see if I had one anywhere, so it was difficult to confirm either way. I just assumed I had one. When the tickets are not available, it kind of still shows you them too, apart from that red text, but I don't think it is that obvious.

You do appear to be blending loyalty and priority together. Undoubtedly you're a loyal and very active fan, but you weren't able to attend the most in-demand games last season because you didn't pay for priority. Demand may increase this season but so will away allocations, so you should be in a similar place to before? The priority system has held the place of those who valued priority in League One and then separated them according to how active they were, which seems reasonable.

It feels like a daunting number of days to wait but the number ahead of you won't have dramatically increased, unless the new membership sells well and you don't buy one, or the system is abused by non-attendees wanting to increase their points total.

Well loyalty vs priority is an interesting one. I see the Gold Cards as giving you priority and the points awarded for attendance to games. The word loyalty is definitely misleading, someone could have given up hours for the supporters club, or the community trust, or spent £500 in the club shop, or just be completely bonkers mad on the club, so there are many ways to be loyal.

Anyway, we are where we are, I have bought a membership for this season and I start off on 5 like most. It is of course the Norwich away game is the 'one' in particular which is going to be the most sought after. But I am sure if I attend 90% of away games that should accumulate enough points.

Or get your 14 person to buy and sell a Sunderland ticket and then they'll have 15 and be in your group.

Surely the points are now locked in for the season? The away match tickets being purchased now are going towards next season. So said person on 14 points will be in that category all season. Otherwise, come the last game of the season there could be thousands of fans in the first priority category.

No, it's a live total and the points totals will increase as the season goes on. I expect the club will just raise the bar for the highest priority if too many fans are in in.

So there's an incentive to those who have more points to try and keep ahead.

If they aren't going to a game, I'd be amazed if someone with 20+ points doesn't offer their ticket to someone else to build the points on their account.

We will see how it all plays out but it feels like it is going to be extremely difficult for any fan currently below 15 points to build their total up. I'd imagine for most games there are going to be minimal tickets left once it gets to this priority stage.
