Harness and Jackson on 17:04 - Aug 12 by NthQldITFC | One of the most pleasing amongst some very, very pleasing things today was the way that all the subs that came on did very well, and upped the energy levels and kept the quality high. Really good. |
I think the fact that the subs came on just a few minutes later than usual today and KmK deserves huge praise for doing something different with Jackson to suit the circumstances of the game. We've known it for ages that we have an intelligent boss but even he is stepping up his game imo.

This sums it up perfectly for me. I very nearly posted the same.

Harness and Jackson on 18:18 - Aug 12 by Swansea_Blue | Bit of a strange thing to score points over. Harness was crap second half of last season; every one could see it. Seemed to have lost all confidence and had the touch of a trampoline. It can only be a plus that heโs started to fire again. |
You've hit the nail on the head in that I think Harness is very much a confidence player, in that if he does something positive in the first few minutes, then this seems to set the scene for him to play well. Today for example, just after coming on, he won a 50/50, turned away from his man beautifully and played the ball back to a defender. Nothing remarkable, but he immediately went looking for the ball again and again. Conversely, if/when he miscontrols the ball or a pass, this has generally led to the trampoline-touch that you mentioned . I think he's then prone to try too hard and ends up appearing not to be on the same wavelength as his teammates. He was excellent today and hopefully he can repeat this level more often than not.
