Ronnie Edwards 19:44 - Aug 13 with 5662 views | Nutkins_Return | What is happening with him? Are Peterborough holding out for silly money. Assumed he was heading to Prem as strongly linked. Worth us going for him? Very high potential and already has a lot games under his belt. Get him in with Baggott going other way on loan?

Ronnie Edwards on 12:23 - Aug 14 with 612 views | BigCommon | I think Edwards is class. And could play at a much higher level than Posh in L1. However, if the valuations knocking about, are accurate. Then he's way beyond our price range, for now. Besides, Baggots rate of improvement has been immense since he was loaned out at Gills. And I dare say is worth a lot to the club commercially, " when " he breaks into the first team on a regular basis. Not to mention Burgess and Wolfy, who both look to be getting better and better. Imo. As already mentioned, we could wait til Jan and make a move for a CB, if it's needed. We could probably do with another forward before we stress over a CB, imo. I've got faith in Fridge and Baggot and Ball as back ups for now.

Ronnie Edwards on 12:20 - Aug 14 by ReusersTown | I could see him going for the 3 - 3.5m bracket too, which i would be happy ebough with. People are getting carried away again, probably the same ones determined that Hirst would be 4.5m. |
Hirst will be £4.5m (and then some) as and when the clauses are hit.

Yup, me too. Feels like ideal timing in a relatively low pressure season, with Baggott making the progress he has to use him as the first choice LHS backup to Burgess. Similarly Edmundson (so long as he stays fit) on the right. Then as you say Ball can provide tertiary cover as can Leigh and Donacien. I wouldn't be averse to an investment type player coming in on a permanent (but maybe in January) but I wouldn't want to see an older head, Keogh type, come in because I don't think that leadership is necessary on the pitch with the personalities we already have, and I don't want to see Baggott's path blocked at all. If we were in another promotion-or-bust type scenario my thinking would be different. [Post edited 14 Aug 2023 12:37]

Ronnie Edwards on 12:15 - Aug 14 by NthQldITFC | I’ve heard how Burgess and Woolfenden are not up to Championship standard, yet I assume the same people think Edwards is? ' Who has said Woolfenden (in particular) is not up to Championship standard, ffs? You'd have to be a complete footballing moron to think Woolfenden is not up to Championship standard! |
More than one of the usual moan-up suspects before this season. Btw, I agree with you and having seen him live now, I think the sky is the limit on his career. He has that rare thing to him too - presence. Please don’t ask me to define it because I can’t, but top players have it.

Yes, good way to put it 'presence'. It's kind of a blend of timing, confidence, relaxedness and a little drop of je ne sais quoi, n'est ce pas?

He was ridiculously good on Saturday. Absurd performance. Davis also a standout, along with Luongo. Burns had one of his best performances for a while as well, and I wonder if teams will now pay him closer attention as oppo did last season... which of course just frees up more space for Chappers, so nice one and whatever :)

We have currently paid 1.5m, what insight do you have for the "and then some"?. There are no guarantees these clauses are hit, and if they are I presume it will be on events that mean we can afford it. Don't understand those constantly wanting to inflate fees for the sole purpose of creaming themselves. Transfer window generation I suppose. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Ronnie Edwards on 12:06 - Aug 14 by itfcjoe | He's not going to be £8m, and Darragh likes to spin a yarn re previously rejected bids. Would be a fantastic signing if could get him in that £3m range |
This was what I was trying to say. People keep quoting 8mil which was Peterborough doing what they did with Taylor and guess what we got him for £1.5 in the end. £3-4 mil + add ons might do it. If so we should be interested. He's further along his development than baggott who can go out on loan. If anything the main downside to him is he isn't left footed like Cam and is a lot shorter than Cam. He would however be much quicker and mobile and a ball playing CB.
