Loaning a youngster who hasn't ever played in the Championship and has about 4 goals to his name in L1 can't be the answer. There's room for a wildcard or 2, a la Hutchinson and / or Scarlett if they're in addition to, but I think we need a more proven and senior forward to compete with Hirst. I've got a story about those...
A relative by marriage was a Production Assistant on the brilliant Chris Morris film "Four Lions".
Do you remember the "desert" Black Ops camp sequences in which several prisoners in orange jumpsuits were escorted by US troops?
Well, they bought the orange jumpsuits. But shortly before filming the sequence at a Production Meeting they realised that nobody had bought any handcuffs.
Distant relative was tasked with acquiring the handcuffs.
Lots of phoning of ex-military stores, police suppliers etc. The official suppliers refused to deal with them. Toy shops only had plastic handcuffs. Things were desperate.
Then he had a brainwave and phoned Ann Sunmers.
He was able to purchase 40 pairs of fluffy, but metal, handcuffs, and spent a day and a half picking off the furry material and removing the glue before couriering them to the film location. | | | |
