I couldn't see another post about this, so apologies if there is.
What's people's thoughts on the recent photos?

BBC News - Andrew Flintoff: Former England captain pictured for first time since Top Gear accident

His face looks pretty battered and bruised even now.
I suppose the facts will come out at some point.
Glad he's out and about again.

Distortion becomes somehow pure in its wildness.

I must say I had to look closely to recognise him. The facts will come out, but he looks like he took a helluva smash. Glad to see him out and about, sounds like it was a close call.

Moreover...he looks a shadow of his former self.

There was an article on Flintoff in the Telegraph I think where one of the comments below the article was from a bloke who does facial plastic surgery . He reckoned from the photos that in addition to having his face rebuilt (think Cam Burgess vs Bristol Rovers but worse) he had also lost a lot of tissue under the skin.

130 mph crash with no airbags. He was probably lucky to survive never mind anything else.

Yeah, he’s got a touch of the Simon Weston about him. He must have gone through a lot of reconstruction and some serious trauma, poor sod.

Simon Weston is a name from a long time ago.

I must admit his expression reminded me of Gazza.

Here is hoping those are two sporting heroes well and truly on the mend from very different problems.

Fair point, anyone under 40-45 won’t have a clue who Simon Weston is will they. The gauntness of Gazza is certainly there too - and he looks quite vacant. God knows what he’s been through, but it seems he’s lucky to still be here.

Didn’t the accident happen in December last year? Whatever has happened his face still looks a mess all these months later.

Simon Weston was terribly burned on Sir Galahad in the 1982 Falklands War. He is a remarkable man who has managed to turn catastrophic and life changing injuries into something positive. I’ve bumped into him a few times and chatted to him - top bloke.

Freddie’s injuries look more akin to an IED or WW1 shrapnel victim. He will be fine - certainly an awful lot better than he is now. He’s a strong bloke. But I’m guessing he faces a lot more rehab and surgery yet. Good for him getting out there. Injuries don’t change who you are.

I wondered if some of it was down to more recent surgery.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?
