23 wins from our last 26 games on 22:43 - Sep 26 by Churchman

I witnessed those years. The second half of 1979/80 and much of 1980/81, we absolutely dominated most teams. In 1980/81 we didn’t lose until November at Brighton (I actually went to the Goldstone that day and it was one of the poorest performances of the season despite only being 1-0)

But although it’s a lower level and a different time, there is something very special about this team. I can’t explain it. They have an aura and a discipline to them that’s just different. I watched some of the pre match kick about on Saturday.

The Blackburn players were in groups doing different things, including David Lowe doing a very intense pass and shoot routine in front of me. Others were dossing about, others doing something else. Our lot up the other end and none looked to be wasting a minute. Even as they walked back to the tunnel, they looked ‘on it’. Professional.

I hope it’s not just me getting over excited and swallowing the hype, but I think there’s something going on here. It’s more than just momentum.

I feel that aura too. It's like they're a single entity - a single happy and confident and relentless and merciless entity - rather than a collection of individuals. We are the Borg. Wes is 7 of 9. Phworr!

When I used to post ‘BELIEVE!’ after every game years ago because we’d scrapped for a 1-1 draw at Barnsley or something.. this was what I was hoping we’d one day become.

Football is swings and roundabouts and after having 20 years of sh*t supporting Ipswich all my life, I did always one day hope and wonder when it would be our time. This is it. These next 10 years are going to be white wonderful. Trophy wins, promotions, premier league football, european football. The lot. I don’t even care that it sounds nuts right now. It will happen. It will. All of it. BELIEVE!

Good on you Rommy.
I don't know you mate but as a fan from 1976 I have seen some good times.
Ironically I passed my driving test in 1986 when we started being predominantly crap and I went all over during the Duncan years (my prime no commitments).
"Absolute scenes" then was a 4-0 home win v Middlesbrough. In fact the adidas kit with FISONS on the front was about as good as it got until John Lyall came in.
The last 20 years have been awful here is hoping and praying the next 10 years are exactly as you describe.
ENJOY. I plan to!!
