2 weeks back my cousin was taken into hospital, and diagnosed with cancer, turns out it had been there for some time and spread terribly.
Saturday evening she sadly passed away.
Her husband works at the club and this morning received a bouquet of flowers, and a home kit for their 2 year old son. Along with a phone call from Mark Ashton.
I know only a small gesture but means the world. My cousin and I, our great grandad, is the reason the entire family are Town fans… he started all this, so for the club to help ease the pain seems so fitting.

Condolences to your cousins husband and family. Cancer is such a common and frightening disease. My own 21 year old grand nephew died of Sarcoma this year. Great to see the club adding their support at this tragic and distressing time which augurs well for the direction it is now taking. As for your cousins family, they are going to require ongoing support rather than a once off action. My thoughts an prayers are with them ( and yourself ).

Also, bumped into Ashton at the gym Saturday morning and thanked him for how the club had supported my cousins husband, and as you can imagine, he’s just a decent bloke who kept making the point to me ‘don’t worry, we’ve got him’

Sorry about your cousin, such a young age. Cancer can be so silent.
Great gesture from the club though. Love to know if there are stories like this from Ashtons time at BC. As you say a small gesture really but no doubt huge to your family and it'd little things like this which make a big difference and often under the radar.
I have always thought of ipswich as a family club, i think we are and always have been compared to most and simple things like this make it such.
