Looks like (Russian ally) Iran* has launched a distractionary proxy war on Israel this morning. Presumably both to hit a US ally and to divert from domestic troubles over the oppression of women.

Not good news because quite a few people have already been killed and more are likely to be. Plus the ordinary Palestinian populace in Gaza will end up being battered again. Also it might spread to Lebanon via Hizbollah.

* Being Hamas' sponsors and political patrons.

Will Israel paint this as anything to do with Iran or simply use this as more reason to seek to eradicate Palestine? The situation there is a mess and, as you say, it is the ordinary people of Palestine and Israel who I feel most for. Most of them would only want to be left to live their lives in peace.

Sounds like everyone will go up a notch in this one. Speaking as an ignorant, it doesn't seem often that so many Israelis get hurt (22 dead and over 500 injured at the time if writing). Sounds like multiple hostages have been taken. I fear the people in Gaza will pay a huge price for this too.

Has anyone ever looked at their own postings for last day or so? Oh my... so sorry. Was Ullaa

Another stage of the conflict where there are only losers. Very very sad.

There will be a lot of questions about Israeli intelligence failures. Hamas have built up enough strength to launch a large and co-ordinated strike, both with missiles and on the ground that have completely surprised the Israeli defence forces such that they have been capturing multiple settlements and even military bases with dozens of armoured vehicles that were still parked when the Hamas (and other fighters) overrun them.

Israel would be sure to respond massively if this was the extent of it, but lots of videos/images of atrocities carried out by Hamas in some of theses settlements will potentially escalate this wildly out of control. A very dark and dangerous time.

I think it’s a former terrorist supporter and religious fundamentalist in charge of Israeli security. He’s been too busy raging against the legitimate protests from a large majority of Israeli citizens and seems to have taken his eye off the ball.

This won’t end well.

Hey now, hey now, don't dream it's over

It’s surprising how many news outlets aren’t emphasising the Iran connection. If it’s mentioned at all it’s often as a footnote.

Assume because that’s not a new development? Iran have provided them money and weapons for years. They’re pretty open about it too, lest we forget they’ve openly said Israel should be ‘wiped from the map’.

Yeah, maybe. I’m probably reading far too much into it.
