Just seen his injury yesterday on twitter, which I wont link as its fairly graphic.

Wishing him as speedy recovery as possible

How the heck did it happen. Usually its a tackle or a landing after a jump.. be he just snapped. So odd.

Ditto this.

Always horrible to see a bad injury on a football field, regardless of allegiance. Was it Luc Nilis who had that nasty one down here several years ago?

Awful injury and wish him well for a full recovery. Don't know how the crowd reacted but suspect at some grounds and there would be idiots singing "there's nothing wrong with you".

There’s idiots everywhere but, in most cases than not, if a player is carried off or hobbles off etc then they get a round of applause. Most fans are decent and don’t wish to see a player injured.

I was referring to when a player goes down and is getting treatment.

Just watched the videos of it. Ouch - that looks absolutely horrendous. Hope he can recover, but at 35 it’s got to be touch and go as to whether he plays.

I think his studs dug in and his momentum then turned his ankle. Horrific injury. Hope he recovers and can play again

Watching the 'Match of the Day' coverage it looked as if the Fulham home crowd gave Basham as warm a round of applause as you can, in commiseration, as he was stretchered off.

He has had the first of two required operations:

Yes, when he wrapped his shin around Richard Wright's shin pad....eeek

He never played again.
