Happy Christmas you horrors 23:40 - Dec 24 with 2306 viewsBlueBadger

I've just had the calmest 3 night shifts of my nursing career for this time of year.

Normally at this time of year in healthcare, you are guaranteed to see something absolutely heartbreaking awful - this year - uncannily calm. I'm not complaining, mind.
Literally the only thing I have to complain about for my run of Christmas nights is that my secret santa pressie isn't in the team office yet.
Now off until the 27th and am signing off from not turning up to Town games and reminding you that the Tories are terrible for a few days.

Stay safe, stay well and uppa Towen.

Maybe your prospective patients all gave up on the NHS and opted to trek to my vet’s emergency partners, which is currently over-run & there’s a queue for the operating theatre, apparently.

The tory induced cost of living crisis means nobody is going out and getting rat-arsed, sticking a traffic cone up their jacksie and going to A&E.

So, swings and roundabouts.

Happy Christmas and here's to the destruction of Leicester.

NGL, I used to drink with a vet and I'd probably trust her more with an iffy appendix than I would some surgeons I've known in my time.

They fished a 12 x 14 inch micro fibre towel (intact in one piece), several pieces of black plastic, a piece of plastic film - and an 8 inch soft toy out of my puppy’s tummy via two incisions y’day eve, so right now I’m inclined to agree with you!

Saturday night looked like it might get a bit tasty in ED but it calmed quickly. We've also had a junior doctors strike this week as well which means that the time wasters stay away and (mostly) sensible decisions are taken(because we have young consultants covering out of hours) and Good Plans are made. Plus, it's been quite mild out. We've had the opposite of 'perfect storm' this weekend and I for one, am not complaining. What I walk into on the 27th on the other hand is a problem for Wednesday Me.

I know we’ve had our differences but Merry Christmas and I hope you have a great, much deserved break. I know you may feel unappreciated at times but trust me when I say this, you are valued as are your colleagues. Take care.

He is, thankfully (and thanks for asking).

Hope to have him back home in a few days, fingers crossed.

Think Christmas has been rather a non-event this year for many people who’d usually celebrate it.

Thanks, anyoo too 👍

He was using his stomach as a secret cache for his most valuable treasures, namely - a 14 x 12 inch microfibre towel; a soft toy;, several pices of black plastic, and a plastic film food cover.

Noticed the towel missing on Christmas eve morning, & there was only one place it could be. The rest of the items were his surprise 'gift' to us all ...

Vet on phone y'day eve said it could be worse - they had one Lab in a month ago which had to have two major abdominal surgeries in 3 weeks, after eating a pair of knickers and a sock one week; then 10 days later polishing off the second sock.

Maybe it had a thing for tidiness.

I hope he or she will be back to perfect health soon;)

I know like us, you love your doggie.

All the best, hope you have the pup back soon.

Luckily ours have never eaten anything like that, however one tried to lick and love a poisonous frog once. Fortunately lived to tell the tale;)

Excellent, glad to hear he's OK and coming home soon. Puppies are an absolute nightmare for trying to eat everything aren't they. We have a 3 month old puppy at the moment and I seem to spend half my time removing things from her mouth or giving out to her for attempting to eat random stuffs
