we've made a lot of fans happy this Xmas period - unfortunately not in Suffolk 22:19 - Dec 29 with 3148 viewsorfordbuoy

The rivals' forums was full of - Ipswich will drop points (be found out) at Christmas and no strength in depth. Kinda looks that way, unfortunately.

Obviously, ll's not lost, but struggling to QPR - whatever the circumstances - does not bode well for autos.

It's irrelevant if Southampton keep closing the gap,

It's not an irrelevant question in the context that you said or squad depth has been found out yet we extended our gap on Leeds.

What it is, is an awkward question which you're trying not to answer as it undermines your attempted whinge.

Oh, it's Herbivore's little groupie.

Anyway, Leeds got 4 pts over Xmas, Town 3 pts. I don't want want to insult your intelligence, but ...

No whinge. Once again (for the not so bright) it was a prediction made on other forums.

1. This isn't about me.
2. It's a pisser those predixtions were right - that we found Xmas hard going and we do not have that strength in depth.

Nowt radical there.

1. Of course it’s all about you. That’s why your OP was written the way it was. You knew what kind of response you might get, surely?
2. Why are you so interested in other supporters’ predictions? Who cares what anybody else thinks? It was bad enough listening to Plymouth banging on about not getting enough recognition without our supporters doing it.

What do other teams supporters know about us? Next to nothing, any more than most of us know anything much about them. Are you interested in their opinions because you follow Norwich? If not them, who do you follow?

There is nothing radical about drawing a game with your centre forward and your captain missing along with other key players against a professional football team fighting for its life with a new manager.

Two years ago QPR were a ‘big club’ who could take a £1 million punt on Dozzel.

To think half the franchise + a couple of pointless loans would romp past QPR with a virus running through the squad just a couple of years later is embarrassing really.

To be honest.

This Christmas is the happiest I have felt as an Ipswich fan since I can remember, certainly better than Mick’s P/O season Christmas and possibly more than the Burley years.

Why? Because the team I support are defying all logic with an incredible points tally and second only to a team that is remarkable in championship terms and fending off two far better resourced rivals in 3rd and 4th. That is not mention the other parachute teams trailing in our wake or the fact that bar 2 others we are the least established team in the championship.

We have a clearly talented and progressive management and ambitious ownership and we might or might not get promoted this season.

The mere fact that we might get promoted is incredible.

When did supporters get so entitled to think that Ipswich Town did not do their bit to make their supporters happy this Christmas?

We struggled last night but we were crippled by absences and dug deep into our reserves. Newsflash - it looks like we’ll have to do the same at Stoke. It maybe that Jan 1 we lose second place but we’ve been there on merit for weeks/months and if we lose it we are capable of recovering it.

I’m sure Saints fans are delighted they’ve closed the gap on us.

I’m sure Leeds fans are sick that they’ve failed to make ground on us.

Appreciate what you have.

I think it is unfair and inaccurate to say we have been found out, the only game we were truly dire was Leeds away, but 2 days before Xmas, with their front line, expectation from the home crowd, them in 3rd, us in 2nd, it would have taken an almighty effort even for Leicester to come away with 3 points that day.

Last night was an anomaly with a lot of players thrown in last minute.

We will strengthen in January.

We need to stick together, support the team (whoever is playing), and stay grounded and positive and we will be fine. We are in an amazing position.

It is highly likely that Southampton will move above us in January, but that is not because we have lost it, it is because they have a particularly easy run of fixtures right now.

We have to make sure that during that period we stick together. The booing last night was extremely unhelpful and is a surefire way of us messing up this season, did you see Freddie last night when he came off? We need him and Jackson, happy and well up for the fight. They both know the playing style and can both do a good enough job to get us through this period without Hirst.

Stoke next, another tough away game, lets just stick behind the team.

Poll: How are we going to try and undermine the manager today?
