....I took my wind chime down as a precautionary measure earlier.

If only your neighbourhood had been as prepared you wouldn't be going through this difficult time.

I assume lessons will be learnt.

Good work. Last thing you need is a wind chime which is sounding like some sort of industrial hardcore. I'm convening a meeting on new protocols.

Next door's bin just blew over and I had to rescue it.

Glad to see that you have taken 'running towards adversity' on board.

I dont think so really in the grand scheme of things, they always blamed the devastation of the 87 storm on the relentless rain in September.

and Ive been cycling long enough to have a a good database of stats, and December was pretty much normal in terms of outside miles completed, which means the weather was about average for this time of year, because Im not daft enough to ride when its too windy, too wet or too icy.

the difference really is I think like weve had every day since Christmas day, and days before too, the Met Office have issued dire weather warnings for Suffolk, and todays really the first day since then its warranted it, but then it feels like youre constantly being battered by the weather because all the news youre picking is theres another named storm going to hit.

In North Yorks we've had literally weeks of several days in each week bringing storm force winds & lashing rain. I finally dared to position the 6-foot outdoor Christmas tree (which is rooted in a large tub) upright on 22nd Dec., from where it had blown over the previous week, but it was immediately brought down again the same night in 70mph gusts.

Put it back up on 24th, blown over again on 26th.

All the usually well drained ground locally is soft to the point of wellies sinking right in.

My half-basement was flooded, regular occurrence in recent years.
