That isn't the point at all!! Should I take it you approve? Edit...personally it is the sort of thing that led me to vote to leave. [Post edited 25 Jan 2024 19:21]

I know, just gentle ribbing. No, it's not my cup of tea. But we could have vetoed it had we stayed in. It's not really up to us to tell other organisations how they police their borders after they've voted. If you're uncomfortable with it, there are plenty of other places to visit.

Do you think they made rules for ALL non-EU nationals just to spite us? Come on.

Thought as much. We wouldn't have. I pretty much can't afford to go anywhere anymore!

I’ve no idea whether that poster was serious or joking, but if serious then yes. Brexiteers DO believe the EU does things purely to spite us. Also that they’re the cause of most of our problems (how’s that working out since we left?) and that they made no concessions during Brexit negotiations. Go figure. Not my cup of tea either, but not much different to having your photo taken and passport logged on entry. And less invasive than our national obsession with CCTV and now having the police use facial recognition technology on us when we’re doing our Christmas shopping.

Remember. Facial Recognition Technology conducted by the Police is not just for Christmas.

A quick look at his other posts suggests he isn't. A lot of 'la-la-la I can't hear you' comments in threads ridiculing brexit.

Brexit was almost worth it in terms of hearing Brexiters complaining about the consequences of it.

Maybe Harley believes that the UK should be exempt from it.
"State over reach" or "yes please can we play too?" on 21:55 - Jan 25 with 1250 views | DJR | Of course this wouldn't be happening if we hadn't left the EU, but talk of 14 hour delays appear to me to be complete overkill perhaps designed to delay the project further. As it is, the issues, if they arise, would appear to be confined to Dover, Eurotunnel and St Pancras, but given they involve the removal of the need to stamp the passport, as has happened since Brexit, perhaps in the scheme of things they won't make that much difference to the present system. As regard landing at airports, it might even speed things up because at Alicante they now have swanky electronic gates which presumably comply with the new system, but you have in addition to have your passport stamped at a different place. The return of EU roaming charges (another Brexit bonus) doesn't help either. [Post edited 25 Jan 2024 22:05]

An old friend of mine at one point had three passports. This was back in the eighties. He was a Civil Servant who had a job that meant he had to visit British Embassies in pretty well any part of the world. He had two British passports so he could visit Israel and Arab countries. In those days you had to have your occupation recorded in your passport (the mandatory wording for Civil Servants was 'Government Service'). That was not a helpful wording in the days when plane hijacking happened. To prevent an awkward outcome, he exercised his right to an Irish passport as nobody hated the Irish (except I suppose Ulster Unionists. But they tended to not hijack planes).

Having two UK passports is still common for people who travel for business reasons to both Israel and Arab countries.
