OK, hindsight, I get it - it's obviously Moore would have given us, er, more and we would have maybe got a foothold in the first half. But he only joined us on Thursday; it's possible he didn't even get training session with the other players. Jackson has played with the squad, and did decently against Sunderland especially and Leicester.
Is Jackson long term starter? Of course not. Moore was signed for a reason, and we clearly didn't want Jackson as second option either, hence the signing of Al-Hamadi. He's an option, but one who, suspension or injury, will be used less from now on. And if the officials had done their job the game may have suited Jackson more anyway.
I do think McKenna got things wrong today. He should have made more than one sub at half time. But Jackson for Moore was an understandable one, IMO. If we'd got him in earlier in the week maybe it would have been different. |  |

Moore is fit and has been playing with a PL squad. He’s had match minutes without being burned out. The argument is that Moore is not quite versed on how we play. But he is still superior to a well versed KJ in the number 9 position.
We are where we are because KM gets pretty much everything right. He got that part of the team selection wrong today. And he’ll know that.

Irrelevant. This was never a game for Jackson. Preston defend deep which means his pace is completely nullified which is his main strength.
There was no out ball because he's incapable of holding the ball up. Moore completely changed the game by bringing the front 3 into it. You need that out ball and you simply don't have it with Jackson.

I fully understand why he started Jackson for all the reasons you have stated. And it also feels unfair to call him out when it sounds like defence mess ups.
But i think some fans have over played his performances for far too long. His mediocrity will get us no where. Kieron knows that too but he just hasnt been able to secure his first choice strike partners. |  |

The subs annoyed me more. An overhaul was obviously needed at half time, whereas I could see the logic of Jackson, who has been with the team for years and done well up front against Sunderland and OK versus Leicester, starting ahead of Moore, who wasn't even a Town player 48 hours ago. | |

Not sure it is hindsight, most were saying before the game that Moore should have started.
I do think there is a place for Jackson, but not necessarily against a team that does not pass around at the back.
Jackson is very good at pressing teams, but didn’t get the opportunity to do that today.
Agree, we could have made more subs at half time, but Moore was the obvious omission from the start.
I do think we have learnt a little today, but we now need to get back on a winning run. |  | | |

If this was Football Manager, and we could go back and play the game, then Moore for Jackson before kick off would be the obvious change. But we'd also be tempted to replace Hladky with Walton, Luongo with Travis, Burns with Hutchinson, Chaplin with Harness and Sarmiento with Broadhead so... | |

Football nowadays isn’t as cut and dry as defence and attack.
There is so much our number 9 offers other than scoring goals. Which includes being a focal point and pressing from the front.
