That reminds me of this tweet from over the weekend.
Bloody woke generation. In my day you could walk on a plane with explosives and a hand gun, then hijacked the bloody thing mid flight. Kids these days don’t know they are born.

Assume a large chunk of that legal migration is students + dependents.
I do worry we're trying to paper over the age-demographic cracks with the amount of migration we lean on.
I don't think there's much 'papering' over going on
There's an inconvenient truth regarding immigration. The reality is with a growing pension population, we need need a growing working population to pay taxes which covers those pensions, one part of that equation is immigration, whether people like that or not. The country does need it.
Historically it's the market that has determined the immigration numbers and not the government itself.
I'd assume the supposed libertarians of this world would endorse the market controlling the balance and not government but those who claim to be libertarians are almost always massive hypocrits.
The generation most hostile to immigrants perhaps ironically are the those in the pension bracket, who really need the tax raised from their earnings, to fund that pension pot
The NHS is massively dependent on immigrants and guess what, the people most likely to need them will be from that age bracket.
Brexit is another example where there's a generational divide on this issue
It's shysters like Farage, Johnson, the Daily Mail, the Express, the Sun etc, who have fostered this discontent towards immigrants
I don't remember the same distain for Bankers when they crashed the World Economy and made the rest of us pay for it

A lot of it is driven by Tory policies anyway - Uni’s now relying on foreign students to make up funding short falls, and lack of investment in producing our own healthcare staff (which of course deprives another country of qualified doctors/nurses etc).

The biggest issue in any of this and indeed anything said wether it be political or everyday speak is everyone in the pc brigade jumps all over it , you cannot express an opinion anymore about anybody or anything , that does not fit their remit ….even the truth is twisted into some kind of lie / fabrication when in reality it’s somebody’s honest opinion ……..worlds gone nuts .
You can't even be openly racist these days without someone calling you openly racist. This country.
I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.
