James Cleverly spent £165,000 on flight to Rwanda to sign deportation deal 12:04 - Mar 22 with 1300 viewsNthQldITFC

Home secretary chartered a private jet to make the one-day round trip to Kigali in December

Leaving aside the 'policy' involved, and the environmental considerations, the fact that one of these bastards can decide to blow that much taxpayers' money just to be photographed signing a piece of paper in this day and age is utterly repulsive to me.

To be fair I'm sure I've done pretty close to that on a few warm Heinekens and 2 tubes of sour cream & onion Pringles with Ryanair.

That’s why all the PR Sunak is spewing out at the moment about cutting NI and being fiscally responsible is a joke. That’s an obscene amount of money, it wouldn’t get signed off in most businesses for travel, so why is it okay for taxpayers to foot that kind of money. They point the finger at Labour for tax and spend, at least it might get spent on us (the public) rather than an obscenely priced flight (I wonder if a pal owns the airline..?!).

Bunch of thieves and snake oil salesmen.

Funny, but he is utterly taking the p1ss out of the 'British people' they claim to represent.

While civil servants are having to write a 'business case' to travel in Premium Economy on a 12 hour flight and to do actual work sometimes the same day you land.

Of course, no doubt about that. What's scary is this won't be anything like an isolated incident, the amount of money p1ssed away is frightening. Absolute charlatans.

Totally reasonable. What do you want him to do travel with the oiks and stay over in a 3 star hotel in Rwanda for something that will never come to fruition. And then we get told the Tory's have spent X billion on the Rwanda project. Surely this sort of expense should be brought before a review board before being allowed to proceed. Insert expletive of choice to describe this broken government

Can we crowdfund a one way flight to take him back there but not bring him back?

No

And the House of Lords has backed the Supreme Court ruling that the plan is illegal.

Edit: Also the Government's argument that Rwanda is a safe haven for refugees is undermined by the placing of it at 126 on The Economist's Democracy Index with the classification of authoritarian.

And quite right too.
We need to do what it takes to *stop the boats *close our borders to immigrants *get our country back *ensure we can get a hospital/Drs or dentist apointment.

Money well spent in my opinion on top of the £500m already spent.

Much better than the waste of £25m actually spent on the borders and immigration services.

*delete as appropriate

Distortion becomes somehow pure in its wildness.

Remember, we're all in it together. Rwanda is a safe place. Investment in Health, Education, Transport is world leading, our economy is consistently about to go on an up turn, the Brexit bonuses are to numerous to list and any problems we still have are, of course, attributable to a) forces beyond our control b) boat loads of immigrants wanting something for nothing or, if any other excuses are needed c) something the Labour Party are suggesting now or did when they were in government 14 years ago.
As for Cleverley's 165K round trip, you’re just nit-picking

£400 for essential root canal work on one tooth - if you can afford it.

£180 for extraction. Private practice prices.

No place available on any NHS dentist's waiting list within a 25 mile radius.

No and if they ever do it is at a cost of £1.8m per refugee assuming we spend nothing more in the meantime

Fear not.

This will all change when we start shipping illegal immigrants to Rwanda.

Def info.
