I’ve no idea, but it’d be interesting to know how we go about it. There’s so much you can get from the stats/metrics these days, but we’ve said this season that we only use them as backup and not make a decision. So you’d think we still have people going and watching players. Unless we’ve outsourced it or rely on videos.

Ashton said we’d been actively looking abroad for a while, but the right player just hasn’t turned up.

How that works regarding them being “our” scouts, rather than free-lancers who punt various players to different clubs I’ve no idea

I'm quite happy to volunteer as a scout for southern Spain. I can cover Malaga, Estepona, Fuengirola, Marbella, Seville and Cordoba.

Interestingly Brighton don't have scouts in particular countries.instead they have "positional" scouts who travel across the world, so the 'Defender Scout' is in Europe one week, South America the next etc.

Sounds like a decent gig, business class of course.

I’m already doing the Portuguese 2nd division & mainly it’s just a “don’t bother” the Primeira liga is of course a different matter but I don’t get to see them! I’ll let you all know if I see anything worth noting!
