I've just counted 11 different threads relating to KMs future on page one alone. Whilst a football forum is exactly the place for fans to post their thoughts, the almost minute by minute speculation is feeling a little over the top. There are one or two other well known issue specific threads ongoing that allow interested parties to drop in as they like or ignore if they like. Could we have a specific "KM speculation thread" for all those interested in the various permatations to visit and post as they see fit? And yes, the irony of now providing a 12th thread on KMs future is not lost on me!
I'd rather have one thread for big things, like matchday threads, speculation threads etc. But it's not how this forum seems to run, so I guess we can forget it.
What's the reluctance around this? The board becomes virtually unusable at times with multiple threads on the same topic where it's difficult to actually see a proper debate emerge. It ends up burying other topics down the pages.
I get it's a quirky TWTD thing but what gets lost if people just contribute to one thread on a a topic?

Lol herding cats WB, many of our more enthusiastic posters are quite protective over the uniquely chaotic character of the forum. I'm not sure why that is but it is so.

I make you right. Not a frequent user of other forums but there was 1 non football related one I dipped a bit into and it was like that where you pretty much had 1 thread per topic, and it runs and runs. Was better than 400 threads on the same subject.

It’s just a TWTD quirk, and I like it like that.
I don’t like change.
Maybe it’s easier to follow on the superior thread mode by time posted
More to do with individuals not being bothered to add to an existing thread and just starting their own for ease. Laziness really. Especially if there are already more than one thread on the front page.

It's not laziness, for many of the old time TWTDers the unusability and chaos when there's a major story or a match day is part of the charm.
I don't get it, but seems to be how it is.

To be fair todays threads aren’t all exactly the same are they.
But get your point on some of it as there’s a lot of repetition in some news being posted across different days!
I don't think it would work. Even if Phil started an official McKenna speculation thread you'd still get the people who ignore it and post their own thread.
Same people who ignore long threads at the top of page one on the forum and make a new thread called 'my thoughts on *insert subject*'.

I'd prefer it as you describe too. I love TWTD but it's a mess on match days.

It seems to work pretty well on other forums.
Agree that some would be 'resistant' though

It was just a suggestion. Mixed response but generally positive, so worth suggesting it I guess. Not sure the post was so contraversial or divisive it needed any downys though!
I've seen mention of admin merging threads on other sites, so probably a mixture of this and well-trained posters goes on.
For me, I like to read the thoughts of our community here, but not so much that I have the appetite to open up all the many threads on one subject (compromises the effort : reward ratio). That some users still use thread mode blows my mind 😅

We should do away with downvotes too, they breed divisiveness, encourage cliques and do little to promote a harmonious forum.
