Now clear favourite to take over Man Utd on 11:27 - May 26 by floridaboy | Really depends on who has the most clout at the top at Man Utd. There are already stories of differences between the Glazers and Ratcliffe about the new manager if there is one. Dont forget Ratcliffe wanted Potter as soon as his money was accepted. The club is a complete basket case. Does McKenna really wanted to be associated with that sort of regime. Will he have a say on transfers, probably not! Hope it gets sorted this week as getting very bored with the whole circus and our club needs to move on with pre season not that far away. |
McKenna is everything that Brailsford would want - young, data obsessive, performance improver and great motivator. His time at UK cycling and Team Sky was all about marginal gains, data driven strategy, accepting a longer term horizon for success and galvanising the team with that ethos. One imagines that Ratcliffe also shares that view. The external pressures and expectations are clearly on another level here and it will be interesting to see who wins the day in the boardroom.

I have just posted a thread with the interview. Apologies, not as clear as I thought it was.

Now clear favourite to take over Man Utd on 09:29 - May 26 by Ryorry | So a couple more Town fans stuck a tenner on in case they needed to soften the blow. Ffs. This reporting of every tiny, meaningless movement in the betting market is getting beyond tedious. [Post edited 26 May 2024 9:32]

I can see Kieron’s got some previous to attend to at Man U though. Some players still there from his time as coach who undermined him, he goes back as Boss and bombs them out. Sits at the table with the same look Gary Oldman has at the end of Tinker Taiolor.

But is McKenna interested in being just a Head Coach, having little input on transfers or overall strategy/philosophy? Having all those people in more senior roles breathing down his neck on every decision, his remit reduced to the training ground and in-game tactical decisions? At Ipswich, virtually everything is set up to serve him.

I think that's a very smart bet even though I have always believed Kieran will stay for another year.

I'm sure he would have a key input in transfers - the Sun ran this today "Man Utd line up Blackburn wonderkid, 16, as Sir Jim Ratcliffe begins new ‘No Galacticos’ transfer policy" and that's a philosophy that would align well with McK, as faras possible a prima donna free zone. It's the Sun... I know but if true it's near on a perfect scenario for him.
