VAR on 07:32 - Jun 6 with 1144 views | southnorfolkblue | As a newbie, I wonder whether we’ll keep our heads down and go with the flow. VAR isn’t the issue for me - it’s the people running it and failing to stick to the script ie dealing with clear and obvious errors. If it takes more than a couple of looks then it can’t be clear and obvious for me and the game should move on

Yep. People took about VAR like it's a set, defined thing. It's not. It's useful for the game and has got rid of some of the absolute clangers we used to have. But it's been overused and used so poorly. Needs tweaking a lot but no need to get rid of it.

VAR on 08:03 - Jun 6 with 1094 views | ElephantintheRoom | VAR is like Brexit… it means different things to different people and no two people will agree on it - or its dreadful consequences. Man City trying to bully ad bankrupt the Premier League because of the tyranny of democracy is perhaps the bigger issue now.

VAR on 11:47 - Jun 6 with 993 views | NIblue | There’s new technology due to come in which should make offside decisions quicker (same as champions league) & no drawing lines etc which was all a bit embarrassing. I’m one of the few who like VAR, I think it keeps officials honest. In the championship it’s far too easy to stick the flag up for a marginal offside call knowing there’s no consequences, or for a ref to barely never give a pen.

Doesn't it have the opposite effect? Officials don't call things because they know someone else will call it if needed.

Imo it stops them from “erring on the side of caution” or taking the easy way out re a close offside decision & I don’t know the stats but it seems to me there are more pens given on the pitch now than before VAR
