England team for the opener then? on 18:34 - Jun 6 with 1573 views | BlueStreak | Jeez that isn't great at all. Southgate picking on form? Stones, Guehi and Trippier - how injured have they been? Gallagher - surely not. Saka - had no form in the last 6 weeks of the season I am extremely concerned for this back 6. Palmer in ahead of Saka? How Dunk even got into the squad is a joke. Same with Toney (again no form after a long lay off).

Mainoo needs to be in there, he’d have five caps already if not for injuries. Hopefully Saka can give us enough wheels up front to stretch people otherwise we’ll be playing in front of most teams.

Hard to argue with much of this but at the same time there isn’t anyone not in the squad who should be?

Needs must in some instances. Stones will 100% start given his experience and lack of alternatives. Think it’s an either / or between Guehi & Gomez next to him. Trippier, again if Shaw isn’t fit there’s really nobody else. Gallagher might not start, but Mainoo or Wharton are the alternatives and not sure Gareth would be that bold. Maybe TAA starts in there next to Rice, I could see that.
England team for the opener then? on 18:41 - Jun 6 with 1518 views | MK1 | Think we will go with Pickford Walker, Stones, Guehi, Shaw Rice, Mainoo Saka, Bellingham, Foden Kane. Foden being given a free role. That X1 wins the tournament.

Wharton is an incredible talent. This tournament may be too soon for him but he is going to be quality. £18m is an absolute snip.

Yeah, he looked superb for Blackburn and doesn’t seem to have been fazed at all in stepping up to premier league or even now international level based on the evidence last game.

Wharton may turn into a top player I didn't really notice him at the home game we all get hyped up none of the top 6 offered that money for him. Whilst we have defence like we have I only see this ending up in tears apart from walker and stones the rest are woeful or unproven or been out injured far to long.

That's the team I would select, but reading about Wharton, apparently everyone has been blown away by him, so it will be a toss up between him and Mainoo
