Euros or Ipswich on 16:01 - Jun 13 by NthQldITFC | Same as me bruv, same as me. I've never been very interested in England, and Town success on any level is infinitely more important to me than anything Engerland do. It changes a little when Town players make up the bulk of the England squad, perhaps? Interesting that virtually every response here is the same. I suspect it's magnified now by what and where Town are at this time, but I would say it's usually 90/10 club over country amongst proper* fans anyway. I too am a little bit disappointed, if that's the right word, about certain aspects of us being in the Premier League Ship next year. I'm currently working on a wearable, real-time, AI-driven hype removal filter. *I know. |
I suppose the rest of the country makes up for it. Regular club fans often put club first, but then Tom, Dick and Harriet who know nothing about football get all excited and don their face paints when international competitions are on. And that’s fine of course. We could do with a lift. Annihilating the Tories at the ballot box and winning the Euros all within the space of 10 days would give the place hell of a boost. It would be like the London Olympics vibes. Not that I’d notice it over here in Wales, but England deserves some better times.

I'm not sure where this nonsense comes from about people supporting England are not real fans. For me I have always been ITFC, and then England only for the tournaments. I lost interest in England for a few years with all the nonsense going on and refused to watch a winter world cup in Qatar. I find it really funny that anyone would find it uplifting to have a change of government. I'm hoping for a hung parliament. Then they can come back with some more appealing policies rather than Labour Tax hike and taxing private schools to push rich kids into overcrowded schools and the Conservatives promising to take control of immigration after being in charge for over a decade.

I didn’t say real fans don’t support England (or at least I didn’t mean to imply that, so sorry if that’s how I came across). England has a hard core of fans who follow them everywhere. But the whole country wakes up for tournaments, which is great. Anyone who hasn’t swallowed the bullsh*t in the Tory-supporting press can’t wait for a change of government. Look at the polls. Delirious with joy if ITFC stay up for the next two seasons, so that clearly trumps the 🏴 thing Don’t think England will do that well anyway - have probably just got used to the team I follow having a far, far better manager …

It's really weird to have a better manager than the national manager. It doesn't quite seem natural. Southgate is good at getting out of the groups, but he could do with a job share and let KM take over in the knock out stages where you need to be brave.

There's nonsense in equal measure in the leftie lovey press too and the BBC. Most people aren't that bothered about who is in charge because it doesn't really make that much difference to most people's lives. If Labour win and that makes you happy, then great, but it sounds like you and most other "Labour supporters" are actually more interested in the Tories not winning. Like a lot of people were relieved that Corbyn didn't get in with his extreme ideas. The polls don't show who people are excited about and they don't even show who you want to win, they just show who people are currently planning to vote for. The UK is in managed decline. We should bin both Labour and the Conservatives and have a proper left wing workers party and a proper right wing conservative party.

Euros or Ipswich on 19:13 - Jun 13 by Europablue | "Proper fans" you're having a laugh. My therapist told me that to have closure for losing to Germany in Euro 96 I need to watch a young German boy cry after we beat them in the final. My boy is half German, but he says that he doesn't mind who wins out of the two. |
Good job he wasn't born before the war I don't care who wins lol 😆
