Back in for Morgan Whittaker? 08:40 - Jun 12 with 13586 viewstractorboy1978

It wouldn't surprise me at all. I think he had bigger fish to fry in January but he didn't have a great end to the season so wonder if interest from the likes of Lazio and more established PL clubs has cooled. Expect Rooney will want to sign a few and Plymouth will have to fund that via a player sale.

First 30 games last season - 17 goals, 7 assists
Last 15 games last season - 2 goals, 1 assist

We know he is a player we have a longish term interest in and we like going back for players we've identified and tried to get previously.

If he was available for the right price, I’d take him every day of the week. Definitely someone who would improve under McKenna, and as you say, we have a habit of going back in for players we’ve previously missed out on.

Poll: We’ve got super KM, he knows exactly what we need. Woolfie at the back…

Second half of the season they lost the manager so you can understand the drop in form.

I'd sign him up. What do you think he'll be sold for, £12m?

Unless he has had a complete backtrack on his opinion of us I would think it’s unlikely.

Looks to me like the drop in form happened at the same time Schumacher (sic) left?

Would be a good addition at the right price.

What is his opinion of us? I'd say he probably thinks he made a big mistake not signing here if indeed that was an option.

Could probably quadruple his money here overnight and be playing PL football.

Yeah, he’s been under several managers and the only one who could get a tune out of him was Schumacher. He was pants at Swansea.

It’s a no from me, just too risky (unless KM knows what Schumacher’s secret was).

He had 3 months after Schumacher left when he was on fire.

He's only 23 to be fair. The sort of profile that would thrive under McKenna I expect.

I'm maybe being a bit harsh and forgetting how young he was when he was at Swansea and I'd certainly trust KM in getting the best out of him/anyone.

I say 'no' but that's only because I'm sure there are even better players out there somewhere. Finding them and persuading them to sign may not be easy though. Ultimately whoever we get in i'll support and trust KM and his team to get the best out of them.

It depends on the price and whether he wants to come here.

I’m no judge (obviously) and I don’t watch opposition players but I sure as hell noticed him at PR last season. He was one of the standouts. Good player who I reckon McKenna could do an awful lot with.

I think he made that quite clear when we were getting the blame for supposedly upsetting his time at Plymouth. Nonsense of course.

Two questions for me would be the cost and also I’d question his work rate

Compared to Sarmiento his work rate off the ball isn’t as good IMHO but his finishing as we all know is sublime. JS for me offers a little of everything , not quite the finisher but he can pull something out of the hat every now and again but it’s his physicality for me

I’m torn either way to be fair - ambivalent I think is the word

Lazy player ...only capable of playing for Schu ...
Vastly overrated just because he got a couple of good goals against us due to our slack marking

Not claiming to be ITK but have been told by someone close to the club Board/Ashton that Omari isn't coming back.

He's obviously a very good player with impressive headline numbers. I'd possibly question his pressing and he had a couple of quite poor games later in the season when I watched him but can't argue with the below.

19 goals and 8 assists this season - 4th most goal contributions in the league. One less goal and assist than Summerville in a far worse side.

9 goals and 7 assists in half a season at Plymouth in L1.

Exactly this, doesn't have the mobility or workrate for our team, and isn't actually that good. But does score some standout goals. All the recipes to he a disaster of a signing without that much upside

Sarmiento all day for me at the same price, has so much more upside and is younger.

We've got room for both of them IMO. Whittaker to compete with Burns, Omari/Chaplin in the no10 role.

Gather he is one on the list of potential targets, but not one we're actively after as it stands. Not really a surprise he's on the radar given the history.

All depends on the real facts (and I don't know what they are) when the rumours were going round in that January window about us being very interested in him.
If the facts are we were interested and he made it clear he didn't want to come here, then it's a no from me. KM & MA have said time and again, players being committed to the club, project is one of the most important things when buying a player.

If we never reached the stage of him telling us he didn't want to come here then yes if the price is right.

That is a wild take. Love JS but Whittaker scored 19 goals and got 8 assists for a team that narrowly avoided relegation, and Sarmiento couldn't nail down a consistent starting spot here.

JS certainly improved as the season went on but he underwhelmed when he started games. Whittaker is clearly the better footballer.

Not for me not sure he has the work rate required.
Also we went up with the championships 2nd best players based on league position. Don't think we want a load of championship players incoming 4 max. We need some top flight experience to help get us over the line.

He only signed permanently for Plymouth in the Summer previous so was at the club (contracted) about 6 months. Bit harsh to say he wouldn't be committed to the cause should he sign here.
