Come on Scotland! (n/t) on 21:32 - Jun 14 by LevelTheLand
As a Scottish Town fan, I never enjoy these posts, we don't all hate England. Some of us spent much of our lives supporting England in tournaments because our beloved Scotland so often miss out (because we're not very good, as is currently being displayed). I will join in with a dislike of Grant Hanley, though.

Nope. Out of second gear for no 5. Bit disappointed in Germany. 7 or 8 was there for them, but I suppose the players were saving their legs. Bit of a training session really.

I don't have anything against Scotland, in fact I am very positive about Scotland/Scots. My lad will wake up very happy as he's half German and he loves watching the highlights (usually Town). It was actually a rather boring match with a couple of good finishes, three if you include Rudiger's and a couple of bad goalkeeping errors.

For what it’s worth I think most English people have nothing against Scotland as a nation. I love Scotland personally, I’ve got plenty of Scottish friends and there’s many, many more similarities than differences. Outside of football that is. But when it comes to football and sport more generally for me I do feel a strong sense of rivalry, the auld enemy as your lot might put it. I would never support Scotland in a sporting capacity and from what I see it’s generally reciprocal. Maybe it’s just more widely shared on social media but Scottish folk are often very vocal in their support for whoever England are playing in big tournaments. England are on a different level right now in football though, rugby is a different story altogether. Either way it’s not personal.

I've told the story on TWTD before but in my class at school in Ipswich at the time of the 1974 and 1978 World Cups, I couldn't persuade anyone to support Scotland.
I put it down to jealousy because England hadn't qualified, but from then on Scotland became my only national team, having supported England at the 1970 World Cup.

Scots are great apart from the the ones with little man syndrome or a chip on their shoulder. It doesn't register much if they win or lose, but I do want Scotland to do well generally.

This ancient and haunting tune, which marks the defeat of the Scots at the Battle of Flodden in 1513, is played at funerals, and was played at the Queen's.

I don’t like the bagpipes. Sounds like somebody squeezing the cat. Dreadful noise. But I have to say ‘Flowers of the Forest’ is very moving.
The Scots? Wanted them to do well as a child. Then I realised just how much they loathe the English and from that moment on see ya! I’d never buy an Argentinian shirt if they were playing Scotland as 1000s of them do when England play them, but if they play the historical great dictator megalomaniac United, I’m all in with Hitler’s boys. Plus they all believe Braveheart is true😃
As for the Scots I’ve met and worked with, they’re ok. I like Edinburgh, Glasgow and Stirling and the people were pleasant though I dread to think of the DNA going into the nosebag.
The SNP? Work meant dealing with them and my colleagues found them appalling - but then let’s face it, English politicians are beyond appalling.
Ancestry wise I have no Scottish connections - phew. There’s a bit of Welsh in the far distance and funnily enough Ive usually got on well with Welsh people. Irish people? They’re fine.
When alls said and done people are people, good and bad, it is only sporting rivalry, a bit of fun and a good excuse for a drink up. At least the supporters of these countries don’t smash up opposition ones as the English dimbos do and no doubt will.
I have to say, last night was comedy gold.

Tbh I always used to want UK teams to win. But having heard and seen the remarks by Scottish fans towards England sod em. Hope they get thrashed every game.

I can’t even log in on the STV app. Apparently I’m out of the broadcast area. You get interested in a major tournament and then remember that you’ve got to suffer ITV. Utter sh*te
I may be being dense, but I presume you're in Wales. Why were you trying to login via the STV app? That might be geographically linked to Scotland.
