Yes, it is always the 21st that they congregate at Ness Point to watch the sunrise.

You go and see the same dominatrix as me then.

We have no village green, or a shop. It's very, very quiet. I can walk to the pub.

From tomorrow the nights will be drawing in, and we have had no more than a handful of decent days so far.

Not true. The Sun doesn't start setting earlier until the 30th of June. The days are getting shorter because it's rising slightly later (as of 20th June) - the longest day this year was the 19th June with the sunrise at its earliest (3.42 GMT) and sunset at its latest (20.21 GMT).

All dependent upon where you live of course (earth turns towards the Sun at 04:28 BST and away again at 22:25 BST here.)

Blimey. you must be in Northern Scotland for sunset to be that late. One thing I have always been tempted to go visit and that is the 24 hour day where the sun never or barely sets.

Thanks WWZ, that's absolutely true and I should have specified that the times I quoted were for London on the Greenwich Meridian.

Skye to be precise (sort of) but I have yet to go further north than Tamperé in Finland (thanks RyanAir...) There is an interesting podcast on the BBC at the moment, 'Poet IN The Arctic' that touches upon the never ending daytime experience:
