Real lack of Euros buzz out there 13:59 - Jul 10 with 3021 viewsbluelagos

Are we just getting used to success such that a Euros semi final is all a bit - meh?

Is this what will happen when we reach our 3rd Champions League semi final in 4 seasons?

Each to their own but I would not constitute scraping to the semi final on the easy side of the draw playing atrocious football is a success.

Back in the day you saw flags on cars, houses etc but not nowadays. Although that’s as much a reflection on who’s in this country these days as much as anything else.

If I was given the chance of winning the Euros or beating Liverpool on the opening day I’d choose the latter.

By back in the day do you mean a couple of years ago for the WC?

Watch last seasons ‘Town in 5’s’ , the celebrations, read the articles and it’s like England don’t exist in Ipswich World! Kieron and the lads have made my summer already!

Is it an age thing?
If I were 20 years younger and went out to watch England matches at night then I might think that there was definitely a buzz out there. But staying in for the matches creates a more insular feel towards such them.

...everyone just expects us to lose.

Nobody is prepared to commit much to the support because they don't want the disappointment/embarrassment.

The only person I've seen that passionately cares about England's performances is old Noggin off of on here.

Slothgate out, innit.

Nah

Am thinking of the flags on cars, songs on the radio, displays in shops...

Ipswich fans, we're all spoilt and a little bit footied out, but this is a wider malais.

Uninspiring football not helping clearly but the whole thing seems to being played to a collective shrug of the shoulders compared to previous tournaments.

I think tournaments need special games to get the fans on board.

Euro 96 was probably the last time it happened properly, with the Scotland game and then the Holland game really getting the momentum going.

Over-saturation of foot all on TV must be a big factor in (what I perceive to be) general apathy. Oh and the fact England have been about as exciting as watching someone else watching paint dry.

Because no one thinks we can win. Which we won't. The Netherlands and Spain are better
