Poll: Philogene Conundrum

I'm honestly shocked we've not made that perm and instead looking at the likes of clarke.

Sarmiento, knows the club, knows the set up, the style, defensive minded as well as direct, ability to score, etc etc

Even if not perm, i'd be making him one of the two prem loan slots if there was indeed the clause that stated we could do so if we got promoted.

maybe Brighton aren't happy with McKenna after the summer?

If the clause was there, they wouldn't have a choice.

But yes, if no clause, then perhaps they would make things rather difficult.

Just because he did well with us, doesn't mean that Brighton have to sell to us. He's their player and clearly think he's one for the future.

Comments by the previous manager suggested that they weren't happy with the minutes he got with us so unlikely to return for a second term.

I would much rather a permanent signing in Clarke or Szmodics to be honest. The moment against Southampton will never be forgotten but he's not our player unfortunately and the issue isn't in our hands.

Plenty of time left - no panic needed.

Indeed - the loans, probably from PL clubs, are likely to be last minute deals once they have sorted out their squads so I hope we have strengthened central midfield before then.

I wonder if that clause can only be taken up during a certain time? Maybe part of it was Brighton wanted him for pre-season? Which would be weird as would be more beneficial for him to be here.

I hope we get him back.

of course they would have a choice, he's their player it would be a clause if all parties agreed to it. Not he's joining Ipswich no matter what happens. What if he didn't play much? They are going to send him back in the premier league if he couldn't get playing time in the Championship

I suspect they want him to be starting games, which im not sure we can promise at this stage.

Like I said. If there was a clause which stated that he WOULD be joining town on loan again SHOULD we get promoted.

I agree with what you're saying but if I was referring to a clause like that then I would have said as such.

I'm still not sure he's what we need for the PL. His tackling was/is at best chaotic.

A decent manager would appreciate how KM manages his young players. Just look at how KM managed Hutchinson. Sarmiento got plenty of opportunities, he just didn't take them and proved himself a better finisher than starter.
I'd be very happy if we could get him on a permanent signing, but I'd also be happy to see him come in on loan. Whatever KM thinks.

I absolutely love him for the moments he gave us but I think that has contributed to a lot of blue tinted spectacles because he was bang average in between those moments of brilliance. He'd be nowhere near my list of priority signings
