Anybody else on here who played in this? 22:17 - Aug 7 with 2035 viewsMelford

I was keeper for Dynamo TWTD. Only time I'll ever play at FPR.

TWTD Teams Crash at Soccer Sixes 25th May 2012 21:14
Two teams made up of TWTD readers were involved in today’s Soccer Sixes tournament on the main pitch at Portman Road. Sadly both Atletico TWTD and Dynamo TWTD — wearing kit kindly provided by the ITFC Charitable Trust - failed to get to grips with the near perfect conditions and the spoils went elsewhere. 13

I didn't play in it, but I was the event photographer. It was a fun tournament!

"failed to get to grips with the near perfect conditions" ... sounds like Phil thought muddy, cut up pitches would have suited your skill set better!

I bet you all really enjoyed it despite failing to win!

I used to coordinate the Portman Cups, too. One of my favourite bits was reading the replies on the form I created with Milts, where we had the request: "Describe your playing style...' There were some really serious over-exaggerators, and under-players, but some hilarious tongue in cheek answers. One of my faves was "I have a wand-like left peg". If he did, I didn't see it that day!

I still put that on my CV, to be fair.

Who on here played for Traktoristi FC, iITFC, TWTD FC or whatever we called ourselves all those years ago in Moscow?

Great to think that we played in the shadow of the Luzhniki Stadium as our first team trained nearby. That's probably not going to happen again any time soon.

There will be footage somewhere as Donovan from Anglia came along! I don't think I've ever seen it.

I remember seeing it. You made me do some cringey interview, I seem to remember (to be fair, you didn't know I'd be cringey).

They took much more footage than they showed on TV. They did publish more of it online at the time. They must surely have shown your goal / attempt at goal...

I've just remembered that our side was topped up with Russians, as half of the promised squad never turned up! Vodka...

Indeed, we were a couple short in terms of players. I didn't score, but I set a goal up with a quickly taken free-kick after the keeper handled outside the area, which the referee had to think about before he decided to give it. Football IQ.

I remember the synthetic pitch was a tapestry of old-school astroturf cut offs, or could've been swimming pool lining. A proper Frankenpitch full of trip hazards. I'm sure that's why I was pants on the day [and ever since].

Not sure I felt comfortable being lead into the rabbit warren of tower blocks back to the oppo's bar after the match, but certainly need not have worried, as they were very hospitable, giving us chicken and lots of vodka. Claire and I went back to our hotel on the other side of the city to change before the match, fell asleep and almost missed the game! Must've been the last people into the ground, 5 minutes before kick off.

I played in something similar, but would have been around 2006ish.

Got to play on the hallowed turf anyway.

Also played in corporate days at the Ricoh, Pride Park and Carrow Road. Missed out on also playing at Villa Park as we were on holiday.

To be fair, the purpose of a wand is to wave around as a distraction whilst some other "magic" is happening.
