That 2nd goal. Wow! on 21:54 - Aug 11 with 2438 views | farkenhell | Not a bad 3rd either. I remember that game well. Gates & Mariner were on fire. Edit: Also funny to see Gerry Harrison not understanding that you can't score directly from an indirect free-kick! Edit again (sorry!): Thijssen running the ball out from central defence then a cross-field ball (with the outside of his foot) to Butcher on the left wing, who beats his man and puts in a pinpoint cross to Mariner who heads just wide. Total football - just like watching Holland in the mid-70s! [Post edited 11 Aug 2024 22:03]

That 2nd goal. Wow! on 03:44 - Aug 12 with 2014 views | Bluespeed225 | This was the game where it really clicked. We possibly lost the next one, but we lost once more in the league that season! The Southampton game showed what was coming. No Brazil in this one?

Did you see me! Just to the North of the half way line in the Cobbold (Portman) terrace. I had hair then !

The next LEAGUE game we lost was v Manchester City away 23 games later, during which time is the no small matter of a certain 6-0 win https://www.prideofanglia.com/page.php?page=seasons&text=1979-80&level=1 Think we were bottom 3 around time of this game, there'd been some Robson out chanting then followed 2.5 seasons we will struggle to repeat... Not far from me then, memory unreliable, ours were between penalty area and half way in Portman Terrace

That 2nd goal. Wow! on 09:00 - Aug 12 with 1466 views | Oldsmoker | Pah! Goal celebrations were poor - no mid-air somersaults. No badgering the ref to bully him into giving Mills Goal. TWTD

That 2nd goal. Wow! on 09:34 - Aug 12 with 1327 views | Nthsuffolkblue | The first was better for me. For a route one goal, the third was pretty good too. Mills unlucky with the free kick - looks like there was a Man City in the box playing the decoy man onside.

It was an indirect free-kick (for obstruction) that Mills fired straight into the net. That's why it was re-started with a goal kick. Funny that Gerry Harrison kept saying the goal had been disallowed for offside, despite the fact that he correctly identified at the outset that it was an indirect free-kick.

Is the correct answer. | |
