Any info on how to alleviate the symptoms from people who have had this would be gratefully received. Thanks.
Foot & Ankle arthritis on 20:29 - Aug 20 with 1931 views | Keno | I share your pain! A two thoughts Get good shoes, by which I mean Doc Martins, or at least ones that fit well. I also a good pair of ankle boots help give support Beware gout, if you get it you’ll be in agony! I can’t take the tablets that you take but keep it at bay by keeping well hydrated. Cherry juice is brilliant for this

Got gout. That was the first thing in the big toe. Been on allopurinol for ages. Arthritis has reached the other parts now. Also get it in the fingers but feet are worse.

I couldn’t take Colchicine to get the acid level down so the doc would put me on what you take. Im happy I can control without 95% of the time

Foot & Ankle arthritis on 20:52 - Aug 20 with 1838 views | LeoMuff | You may have done it but get checked out via GP in case inflammatory as opposed to wear and tear or something like plantar fasciitis. Otherwise good footwear and arch support, stretching the lower leg and foot, working on balance and proprioception in the ankle and muscles strengthening in the foot for stability if wear and tear.

Sensible advice. Unfortunately, arthritis is difficult to treat as there are supposedly no cures, but a friend of mine eventually found a drug which made a huge difference to his life (unavailable on the NHS). If you have it bad, my advice is to try to get to a specialist as ultimately, GPs will be near useless. He also stopped drinking alcohol, which eh said helped.

Foot & Ankle arthritis on 15:25 - Aug 21 with 1326 views | Ryorry | Have had osteo bad in spine & hands for decades, but recent MRI scan for knee injury also revealed CCP aka 'false gout'. Aso read online that eating fresh cherries was good for alleviating this. They're currntly in season & yummy! Sold by most s/mkts, make sure to get the top quality ones. Pricey (but you can sometimes get deals), & so's decent juice.

Foot & Ankle arthritis on 16:18 - Aug 21 with 1250 views | Chondzoresk | First of all….I know your pain. I suffer from Anylosing Spondylitis (form of Arthritis) in the neck and spine. I have arthritis in both my knees one knee replaced and one needing an urgent operation. I have gout in my ankle/foot. Walking even a short distance is agony. Keep away from Naproxen and Meloxicam. Both rot your stomach. I’m on Tramadol and Allipurinol. Lose weight, stay off booze, eat healthily. Knee pillows are a help (JML do them for £20 each, I swear by them). Decent hard mattress (expensive, I know), but it will all help you. Finally keep positive. Don”t let the condition beat you, even when the pain is virtually unbearable. My sympathies to you and good luck.

Sorry to hear that & sympathies Chondzoresk. Re knee pillows - I really liked the right-angled, chunky oblong foam block that was used by the NHS for my MRI scan - much preferred it to the conventional sloping knee pillows, so had one made up by a company called Foam2Home. Expensive (£65 for a 31 x 39 x 51cm superior medium foam block with 1.5cm soft foam top layer; & covered in stockinette) but worth it for me. They will cut to any size that customers want.

Thanks mate, but I had all this since I was 22 (1992). So well versed and used to the issues that come with it. Thank you for the heads up on the foam2home. I’m going to look into that.👍

Another thumbs up for turmeric and other natural anti-iinflammatories. I have wrist arthritis due to a bad fracture 15 years ago. Also, keeping the affected joints mobile in a gentle way would help.
