Saturday v Fulham 23:54 - Aug 29 with 1765 viewseddiespearitt03

Is it too early to expect a hard earned win ?

We all know it will take a few games, if not more, for existing and the new players to form a bond.
It is certainly going to be a game where we have to match intensity , defending and goal threat.
At this stage would you be happy with a draw ?

Expecting a win is certainly something.

Before the season started we were thinking that its games like this, against teams like Fulham that we need to take points off. With a lot of new players arriving and a lot of gelling to be done, whether Saturday is too early who knows.

I split the Premier league teams into three sections .....
the top third teams, we are not expected to pick up any points
the middle third teams, maybe pick up a few points
the bottom third, teams that we should be competing with and picking up enough points to stay up

That’s exactly what I expect and what is needed to have a good season.

The games have come too early in truth. McKenna needs another 2 months with this group ideally, but we do not have that time.

We the supporters can play a massive part tomorrow. I think it has to be relentless support from the off to the last kick of the game.

Poll: If we sing for 90 mins for all remaining games, how many points is it worth?

Fingers crossed we can get something from this game, but I agree with the view that these games have come too early. We need a couple of months to truly form a team in my view.

If I’m expecting wins then this is going to turn into a miserable season.

I don’t expect one tomorrow. Fulham are very good.

But I feel we really need the win before the international break to give us some confidence going into it. Plus it’s a month before we’re back at home again. Really looking forward to seeing KM work with the team in the next couple of weeks.

I divide the division in 3 as well, but differently...

1) Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool
2) Europe chasing clubs (Spurs, Newcastle, Chelsea, Man U, Villa)
3) Everyone else

No points out of the Top 3 (already got a couple of those games out of the way), points to be had against the Europe clubs (particularly at home) if they have a bad day or take us lightly. The key results will be against the "everyone else" teams - challenge for any promoted club (particularly in recent years) is just to stay up.

Poll: My morning poo-poo took 3 flushes to clear. Who do I call?

0-2 defeat.

Fulham are a reasonably decent side, and we are still a bunch of strangers.

Fulham have built a relatively strong footing in the Prem. Their squad is good. I think their away form hasn't been sparkling for a couple of seasons.

I expect a really tough game. It would send a great message if we could get a win but honestly and objectively I'd take a draw.

I know that was then, but it could be again..
Poll: At present who do you think you'll vote for?

I would more than happily take a point. That would be huge. Whenever I saw Fulham on the telly last season I always thought they looked a very good team. As everyone else is saying, we have a bundle of new players that will take a while to bed in. I am desperate to be wrong, but think it will be a comfortable win for the away team tomorrow. More important than ever that us fans stick with the team if we do struggle.
