Quick visit to Fulham forum 08:28 - Sep 1 with 6914 views | BlueNomad | Not very complementary, in summary: It was only a draw because Muniz was poor They couldn’t even beat a team who lost to Wimbledon We have poor defenders and are generally not very good We are dirty, Delap in particular
Quick visit to Fulham forum on 13:56 - Sep 1 with 967 views | Nthsuffolkblue | isn't it great that we kept players of Muniz's quality so quiet! I guess they didn't change their team from their cup team so they wouldn't have expected us to do so. It must be a radical idea for some of their fans! There was one moment where one of their players drifted past 3 of ours as if they weren't there. It doesn't bode well for them if they can't make anything of that so I can understand their concern. One thing I was very impressed with was how we stood up to their physicality. The ref seemed to miss a lot of it (more from them than from us but from us sometimes too). What was going on with their player on Ogbene every time they had a set piece around our area? He seemed to be all over him, the ref spoke to him about it and he carried on and the ref did nothing more.

Basically they'd put this down as a W hadn't they and it didn't quite go to plan. We're going to hear this a lot from all teams we get points off this year...normal enough. Oh, and who'd be a Fulham fan? Utterly pointless. |
Rightly or wrongly I think in any league you expect to get wins from teams that have just come up, so its understandable.

We drew in 90 minutes against Wimbledon and lost on penalties. They didn't play the team that lost (drew) against Wimbledon because that was our second team. If the opposition defenders are poor and you only score one, that makes your attackers poor. I learnt from the Fulham game that apparently you are allowed to push players repeatedly on corners and basically grapple with them with no interference from the ref.

The good thing about Fulham is that the wives will like it and Chelsea and Tottenham rejects don't have to relocate.

Quick visit to Fulham forum on 10:47 - Sep 1 by BasingstokeBlue | Met up with a friend (Fulham visiting supporter) in the pub after the match. His main criticism was Szmodics' "penchant for throwing himself to the deck." I can't say that I recall any such behaviour. [Post edited 1 Sep 2024 10:49]

I remember thinking that Szmodics dived when he got a free kick, then I saw the replay and it was a blatant push in the back.

Quick visit to Fulham forum on 11:15 - Sep 1 by TractorWood | Was a pretty even game. We played some great stuff but didn't create an outrageous amount of chances. Muniz did nothing. Thought Iwobi was great but surprised he didn't venture forward a bit more. He did in the last 10 minutes and they looked more likely when he did. Troare looked immense one minute and utterly useless others. I can tell why they are frustrated by him. |
Smith Rowe was totally negated by our midfield and defense. There is a reason why Traore is playing for Fulham. He is a world beater some matches and hopeless the next. Sometimes it varies that much within one match.

Quick visit to Fulham forum on 12:27 - Sep 1 by north_stand77 | On the train there, was speaking to a couple of their fans who said they expected to win 5-1. On the train home, overheard a different couple of their fans going mental about how their team were really poor, as was the team selection. No credit to us. |
5-1 suggests that Fulham are better than Man City who only managed to beat us 4-1 at home and with a sympathetic ref.

Probably hard to accept we were the better team in the second half and finished much stronger than they did. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Couldn’t believe he didn’t get booked. He isn’t the most mobile of players. I was surprised how often we closed them down and managed to get a foot in and make things difficult for them to play out.

there was one I remember that looked a bit dubious on how much contact there was, but most of them looked like fouls, and I just assumed that was Fulhams tactics to break up play
