In the fanzone before the game, he said, "Christ, not saying we're doom and gloom as a fanbase, but three losses on the bounce and the Samaritans are here!"

Whilst not quite the same. The chap sat next to me (even after watching us for the last few years - he may have watched us longer for all I know) spent Saturday berating Muric, Woolf and Greaves for 'playing out from the back'.

'Get it forward!'
'Kick it!'
'Stop fannying about, get rid of it!'

I could go on - even my old man (who by his own admission is still adjusting to 'modern' football) was getting annoyed with him.

Do 'fans' really not know how we play under KM by now?

Heard a couple of those in NSL too.
Quite bemusing really.

Call me old fashioned.
Well, because I am.

But when your keeper has a ball at his feet that he cant pick up and he has Nos 9 &10 baring down on him, moving the ball to safety soon seems rather important.

And if he has no better options then row Z has to be considered.

Or maybe play it out from the back like we've been doing for the last two seasons?
It's been 90% effective in that time.
We only really pick up on it when it goes wrong.
In the 100 + games we've played since KM has been here, it hasn't cost us too many points has it?

Unfortunately opponents press far better at this level. We're not playing the Exeters and Coventrys of this world any more you know.

And yet 'inviting the press' and 'playing around the through it' is very much part of KMs approach.

As is defending high up the pitch and trying to win the ball back via the attacking players.

I heard less of that in Cobbold B Saturday than I used to hear in West Stand T last season.

But boy did I have the most excitable individual next to me, kept going to extremes then apologising.

That is all absolutely true, and I'm very much on board with it.

But equally, at at time immediately after Muric has had a very very unfortunate start in trying to do exactly this and gifting a comical goal, I can understand why fans would be nervous.

Muric did go long more often than we've been used to from last season. Think that was tactical to get past Fulham's press.

Muric will no doubt have learnt, and will have been coached on it after the incident. I did see him kick it long a couple of times, so I'm confident he'll adapt.

Playing out from the back is high risk, high reward and the foundation of a team that wants the ball to feet, on the ground most of the time. I've been watching the team for over 5 decades now (so old fashioned?), but hate seeing long balls regularly lumped out of the back by the keeper, or anyone else, unless absolutely necessary, or when some space and a break has been spotted. Long may the football we currently play continue :-)

The kick and rush at ITFC was before Arnold turned up in '79 ?

I can see the advantage of drawing the forwards on so there are gaps at the back. I would just like a larger margin for errors such as we saw against Citeh.

Or perhaps I am more prone to a heart attack than you youngsters

I suspect a) we'll be caught out a few more times this season or b) we'll see more kicks from the back than we have previously. But it will still be our preferred way of playing. We'll learn the Prem margins and adapt to them like all teams other than the elite 4 or 5 have to do.

It's been a sharp learning curve for the defence and midfield but I'm sure that they are far more aware of the speed of thought and feet necessary than they were a month ago! I doubt we'll see Muric making that Citeh rick many times.

Now that I'm watching MOTD I can see that nearly everyone in the Premiership is playing out from the back. And other teams are making mistakes with it. Southampton seem to be messing up a lot with it. Which is nice.
